Before Irish pop rock trio The Script performs live at the Araneta Coliseum on April 16, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to chat with drummer Glen Power through a phone call from London.

Aside from Glen, The Script is composed of Danny O’Donoghue (vocals & keyboard) and Mark Sheehan (guitar). The Script’s self-titled first album released in 2008 was a huge success, holding top spots in Irish, UK and Australian album charts.

Hits from their first album include "We Cry," "The Man Who Can’t Be Moved," "Breakeven," "Talk You Down" and "Before the Worst." American Idol Season 8 winner Kris Allen was so enamored by one of these hits ("Live Like We Are Dying") that he recorded it for his own album.

When PEP got to talk to Glen, it was Friday morning in London and he was "drinking tea" and "just chilling out," basically taking a day off from preparations for a tour that will take them from Stockholm, Manila, and Australia.

"I think the fans are gonna love what we are doing. They can expect a great show," said Glen with a smile in his voice.

The band is known for having songs included in the soundtracks of hit television series The Vampire Diaries ("This = Love"), 90210 ("We Cry") and The Hills ("Breakeven").

Their tunes are also known for their inspirational and uplifting themes.

"I think it’s the fact that anybody can relate to the songs," Glen said about the quality of their songs. "I think that’s what music is all bout."
The band tours amid the success of their newest album Science and Faith, which they released last September.

Glen shares that it took them six months to work on the album and the experience was as lighthearted as their songs.

"[The inspiration for the songs] could be from anything. We just sit together and see what works," he said.

It’s the group’s first time in the Philippines. Glen, who enjoys swimming as a hobby, is also looking forward to seeing the famed tourist spots in the country.

"Yeah, we will definitely go places," he said.

Following the success of their multi-platinum debut record, their second album, Science & Faith, was released in September 2010. In the U.S., it debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200. The first single from the album "For the First Time" is their most successful single to date, which debuted at #1 in Ireland and #4 in UK album charts.

The album’s second single, "Nothing," has been steadily climbing up the local music charts. This song has reportedly ranked first by two leading radio stations in Manila.
