Thanks to his newest music video compilation, guys have plenty of reasons to envy Asia’s Pop Idol Christian Bautista.
The singer-actor was able to work with pretty and lovely ladies from the Philippines and nearby countries as he shot music videos for his special collector’s digital versatile disk (DVD) edition titled Romance Visited: The Music Video Collection.
"The past year, I have been honored to have some wonderful videos produced for Romance Revisited," Christian says. "I hope you enjoy the collection we have prepared for you."
Supporting and sharing some romantic moments with Christian are model/actress Paula Taylor for "Tell Me Your Name"; Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo ("Please Be careful With My Heart"); Solenn Heusaff, Georgina Wilson, Anne Curtis and Angel Locsin ("Beautiful Girl"); Malaysian actress Carmen Soo ("Afraid For Love To Fade"); Cristine Reyes ("I Remember The Girl"); and Angelica Panganiban ("Nakaraang Pasko", a track from his A Wonderful Christmas released in the Yuletide Season of 2010).
The DVD collection boasts of having three international music videos, too, starring Asian superstars Kewei Tay of Singapore and Bunga Citra Lestary of Indonesia, both for "Please Be Careful With My Heart" and Noryn Aziz of Malaysia ("Ngiti").
How was it working with international artists, particularly, in Indonesia, where he was his popularity exploded in 2006 with his smash hit "The Way You Look At Me"?
"I like working with Indonesians; they have a good music sense. ’Pag narinig mo yung music nila, kahit hindi mo maintindihan, ang galing, ang ganda. Very melodious ang mga kanta nila," Christian tells PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) in a pocket interview with the entertainment press at the DVD compilation’s launch at the Universal records office in Quezon City last March 16.
Asked what his favorite video track in his DVD collection is, Christian said that it would have to be the Indonesian version of "Please Be Careful With My Heart."
"It’s something different, e. It’s in Indonesian and has an Indonesian artist. Iba rin yung treatment niya," he muses.
SONGS FOR THE NEW GENERATION. Two of the video tracks-""I Remember The Girl" and "Beautiful Girl"-earned for Christian the Favorite Mellow Video and Favorite Remake awards, respectively, in the recently concluded 2011 MYX Music Awards.
How does he feel about accepting these recognitions?
"It helps me a lot, sumasaya ako. Kasi parang talagang fruit siya of our labor with this album. And recently nga, Jose Mari Chan emailed me also, parang, ’Congratulations [for] all the awards! Thank you because somehow, my songs again are current,’ tapos, tayong new generation, naaalala natin sila."
That, for him, is precisely the purpose of the remake album.
"The remake album makes old songs into classic songs. So, hopefully, someday, my songs, my original songs, will be remade also by new artists. Para it will stand the test of time."
Christian couldn’t be more grateful to God for this new blessing in his continuously flourishing music career.
"Mas natsa-challenge nga ako. ’What do I do next?’ parang ganon," intimates Christian, with eagerness in his voice. "Dapat, halos or at least mapantayan or malagpasan ko yung last album. The last album was also easy to sell because all the songs [of Jose Mari Chan] are great! Lahat ng kanta niya, ang gaganda na, so ang challenge, pa’no ka ulit makaka-come up ng original song naman, na sinulat ko or sinulat ng iba na mapapa-hit o mabebenta rin. That’s the next step."
Does he write songs himself?
"Now, I’m starting to write songs, thoughts, ideas, and I put them in my phone. I ask my brother to help me with the music, ganun, asking other producers, collaborating with them. Tapos, eventually, iko-compile ko lahat ’yan, ipapasa ko rito, ipe-present sila. Kung gusto nila ’yung iba, good; kung ’di nila gusto ’yung iba, well, ok lang. Ganun naman talaga, e, trial and error," reveals Christian regarding a new career path that he wants to pursue in the future.
Assessing his music career from the time he started to really break out, the Asian recording star believed that his music is picking up again, giving gratitude in no small part to, again, Jose Mari Chan and Universal Records.
"The music here is picking up again. I wanna go back to originals and I hope that that will soar higher," he ends.
Romance Revisited: The Music Video Collection, which also offers the public a rare glimpse of his personal and professional life with exclusive interviews, behind-the-scene clips, and travel videos of Christian, is available in DVDs under Universal Records.
