Rivermaya holds auditions for new frontman

Rivermaya is currently looking for a new frontman after vocalist and chief songwriter Rico Blanco (third from left) bid farewell a few months back.

With their first post-Rico Blanco single, "Sayang," getting good attention, Rivermaya announced that they’re holding an audition to fill in the void left by their estranged singer-songwriter who reportedly left to pursue other interests.

Bassist Japs Sergio, who wrote and sang the song "Sayang," immediately refuted rumors that he’ll be taking over the vocal chores for the 14-year-old legendary act.

"Right now ang ginagawa namin, kung sino ‘yung nagsulat ng kanta s’ya ang kakanta," he mentioned to Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) when we bumped into him a few weeks back in Makati City.

"But it doesn’t mean na ako na ang vocalist," he laughs. "Nagkataon lang na ako ang nagsulat nung kanta and naisip naming ilabas s’ya as a single."

We got hold of Rivermaya’s qualifications for anyone who wanted to try out and take a shot.

Rivermaya audition details (for vocalist):

-must be at least 18 yrs old

-no recording label, no manager

-male or female

-Just be yourself
