Aside from acting accolades, she has a platinum album to add to her list of awards.
"It’s a blessing talaga," happily said Kris Aquino about her album, Songs of Love & Healing, reaching platinum status. The said album was released early this year.
No, Kris doesn’t actually sing any of the songs included in the album although you will get to hear her voice as she shares her thoughts in between songs. The album is actually a compilation of Kris’s chosen songs that helped her weather storms in her life.
It includes songs like "You," "Rainbow Connection," "Healing," "Isn’t She Lovely," "Smile," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Sa Ugoy ng Duyan," "In Your Eyes," "What a Wonderful World," and "I Will Be Here." The songs are interpreted by Misty Blue and Jed Madela.
She noted, "Sabi ni Boy [Abunda], it’s my gift—I memorize lyrics talaga. I cannot sing to save my life, pero name the song, alam ko ang lyrics. Pero ‘yon talaga ‘yon kasi I love lyrics. So kaya those songs, kaya nag-click kasi love ko music... You have to love something for it to have rewards."
Though she loves music, Kris admitted that she hasn’t attempted to compose lyrics for a song.
"Mas magaling kasi ako sa essay-type or ‘yong free-flowing verse. Pag may structure, nahihirapan ako," she explained.
Like most artists coming out with an album, Kris also had an album launch and autograph-signing events for her fans.
She narrated her experience: "I went to Mall of Asia for the signing. Alam mo medyo part of me talaga pagod na kasi 750 ‘yong pinirmahan ko, e maitiyaga kasi ako [magpirma] kasi fan ako dati, e.
"Naaalala ko nung bata ako nagpa-autograph ako kay Aga Muhlach ’tsaka sa Menudo. Alam ko na it matters na mahaba ang dedication. Ayoko ‘yong hindi man lang hiningi ‘yong name mo. Ayoko nun. Parang it’s a sign na gusto ka. Si imaginin mo na 700 plus ‘yon na name nila, dedication, pangalan ko, tapos lahat may dalang camera. Three and a half hours talaga nagpipi-pirma ako, which is thank you naman talaga na tinangkilik nila ‘yon."
"It was an experiment on the part of Universal Records and it worked!" she ended.
