After years of polishing his comic chops, actor-senator Bong Revilla Jr., faces a new challenge as the host of GMA's newest Sunday primetime offering, Kap's Amazing Stories.
It is a continental shift in playing roles, according to Bong, as he now works by his lonesome, presenting some of the most extreme documented moments of living life on the edge in Philippine television.
Kap's Amazing Stories will feature videos culled from National Geographic's Most Amazing Moments.
"Basically, I'll be giving the viewers a feel of the stories as well as the background which is very essential for them to understand fully kung ano ‘yung ipapakita namin," said Bong when Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) chatted with the senator last Thursday, August 16, at the Marina restaurant in Quezon City.
Bong describes Kap's Amazing Stories as "infotainment," a mix of both information and entertainment.
Would Bong have to temper his comedy as life threatening issues require him to be serious?
"Hindi naman," Bong countered with a grin. "May comedy pa rin pero s'yempre hindi naman nga sobra, kasi seryoso ‘yung mga footages dahil life and death situations ‘yung mga tema natin, so I guess it would be inappropriate kung magpapa-kwela pa din tayo ng husto. Although, we're very lighthearted sa approach, so sisingitan ko pa din ng konting pagpapatawa."
The show will feature exciting countdowns to the most amazing highlights of each episode. There are five categories of breathtaking stories that range from death-defying stunts, being caught in the midst of nature's wrath, perilous encounters with the wildest creatures, bizarre human traditions, to the sickening dishes eaten by the strangest people all over the world.
The show plans to feature original Pinoy bizarre stories in the future to make it more exciting and familiar to local viewers.
Kap's Amazing Stories premiered last August 19, after Showbiz Central on GMA-7.
