Eric Quizon educates himself with immigration laws while hosting Pusong Pinoy sa Amerika

As the director of Pusong Pinoy sa Amerika, Eric Quizon himself is inspired by the stories they feature on the show. “I also deal with real life emotions based on real life [situations]. I direct movies or shows that are based on real life. So somehow, of course you can draw inspiration from [the show],” he explained.

Lou.

“Well, Atty. Lou has been a friend of my father [Dolphy] for the longest time. She takes care of all his work permits whenever he does shows in States.

“So, when we did our world book tour, that’s 2008, my dad asked me to get in touch with Atty. Lou and that’s the first time that I got the chance to talk with Atty. Lou.

“Since then we became very good friends, tapos isa pa, we’re neighbors. Lou.”

THE INVITE.

“The reason I got involved is because ang co-host talaga niya is si Randy Santiago,” natatawang kuwento ni Eric.

“Then Randy could not do it because he started a show with [ABS-CBN].

“So, what happened was Atty. Lou called me and said, ‘nahihiya ako, e,’ ‘Bakit?

“Then she said, ‘yon nga nabanggit na niya ‘yong show and offered it to me, I said, ‘Of course! I’d love to do the show with you.’”

INSPIRATION.

Aniya, “My favorite part of the show is Visa 101. Visa 101 is the dramatization of real life immigration stories, real life stories sa Pilipinas dealing with these problems.

“So as a director, I also deal with real life emotions based on real life [situations]. I direct movies or shows that are based on real life. So somehow, of course you can draw inspiration from [the show].

Kuwento niya, “I’m the guardian of my sister’s kids, they’re studying here. One just graduated, the two are still studying, and my sister who will be a U.S. citizen by June is petitioning her kids.

“So, sabi ko that’s just one good way of like I am the guardian of the kids who are being petitioned.

“So, sabi ko this is one way of learning of this law kaysa magbasa ako ng mga libro and hear it from somebody else, why not hear it from the expert?

“That’s why I said, ‘sure,’ I said yes right away, hindi ako nagdalawang isip, sinabi ko na gagawin ko ‘yong show ni Atty. Lou. That was in 2011, last year, and right after that we did the show and I got so involved.

“Marami akong natutunan, that’s why tinanong ako ni Attorney, ‘pwede ka pa ba?’ sabi ko, ‘Of course, anytime!’

“So, that’s how I became part of the show. It was something I can associate myself with, parang nakikita ko ‘yong sarili ko na nage-evolve with the show.”

THE SHOW.

Mayroong three segments ang naturang public service program.
