Sam Oh and Chef Sau Del Rosario co-host Sarap to Heart, a cooking show with a twist

The saying “the way to a man's heart is through his stomach” will be tested by Sam Oh (left) and Chef Sau Del Rosario through the cooking slash dating game show Sarap to Heart.

“Well, it’s different. I think this is my third cooking show, and this is my first time to do a cooking show like this.

“It’s a complete different show format from my other shows. So, it’s an interesting show.

“‘Yong Sarap at Home dati is like sitcom na cooking show, and you know it’s different.

“I just host, like I intro the program, then kakausapin ko ang mga searchees, and then I end the program, talk to the celebrity searcher.

“So, my job this season is very easy, actually.”

“It’s kind of a different format, kasi here I’m not cooking at all. So, it’s my turn to share some tips on how… para manalo si searchee," ani Chef Sau.

“This is different on my part also, kasi I won’t cook also, para akong mentor ng searchees.

“Basically ‘yong gagawin ko lang kung paano mapasarap yung food because the bottom line here is, mapa-oo ninyo yung [celebrity searcher].

“I did shows before na ako yung nagluto or ako yung nagiging judge, this time ako yung parang tutor, mentor ng dalawang searchee.”

LOVE FOR FOOD.

“But, I guess when you have a Chef Sau calibre on the show, who am I naman [to cook]?

“Mas magaling akong kumain, and Chef Sau is so sweet!

“If there’s a really interesting recipe, he’ll leave a little portion on the side, after plating tatabi niya ako ng konti para matikman ko.”

“No, mahirap, mahirap, mahirap maging teacher,” nangingiting sagot ni Chef Sau.

“But for me, learning is parang sponge, you always learn new things. Pero when you teach, depende kasi, e.

“Minsan kasi kinukuha namin walang experience sa pagluluto, ang talagang motivation, eh, makuha nila yung celebrity.

“I also assume na wala silang alam, not because may background siya sa culinary hahayaan ko nalang siya or mapagbubutihin.”

Kuwento pa ng chef na ilang taon din nag-aral at nag-training sa France, “You have to balance it, eh.

“Like meron kaming dalawang searchees, one is from Manila Hotel but talo pa siya ng hindi marunong magluto.

“So strange, di ba, and because nung ininterview ko yung guy na nanalo during the show, wala siyang sinasabi kundi crush niya si Isabel Oli, na gano’n, na I have to win, I have to win.

“Siguro ‘yong determination lang niya ‘no. ‘Yong isa marunong magluto, pa-relax-relax siya, you know ‘Chef, I know this,’ he show ‘yong cutting skill niya, ‘yong cooking skill niya, in the end he lost.

“Talagang ano, may advantage of course, sige alam mong i-balance yung flavor, alam mong gano’n.

“But then siguro kung nakikita nung searcher yung ano, how they cook, magugustuhan niya yung may background sa culinary.”
