Tessa Prieto-Valdes's lucky charm works for her in "Celebrity Duets"

Tessa Prieto-Valdes's lucky charm works for her in the September 8 episode of Celebrity Duets. She performed "We Got the Beat" with Manilyn Reynes.

Fashion icon, columnist, and socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdes almost got eliminated in the previous episode of Celebrity Duets but she made up for it this time during the non-elimination round aired yesterday, September 8.

The six remaining contestants—Tessa, Wyngard Tracy, Tim Yap, Dr. Hayden Kho, Jessica Rodriguez-Bunevacz, and Dr. Manny Calayan—might be taking it easy this week. However, by next Saturday, they have to take their performances up a notch when two "singers" will be voted out in the September 15 episode of Celebrity Duets.

Sitting as judges were Louie Ocampo, Mitch Valdez, and Buboy Garovillo of the APO Hiking Society.

Tessa, who just celebrated her birthday recently, told the hosts Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid that her wish is to win Celebrity Duets. Her singing partner that night, Manilyn Reynes, was introduced as someone who just might be her "lucky charm."

Like her other performances, Tessa's wore a very colorful costume that made Mitch Valdez say that watching her was like watching anime or cartoon characters onstage. Tessa and Manilyn performed the song "We Got the Beat" with gusto.

Buboy Garovillo, another judge, pointed out that, "It [Tessa's performance] is definitely the most entertaining portion here in Celebrity Duets."

It seems that not only Tessa has a lucky charm this week, because the episode was declared a non-elimination night. Next Saturday, the six remaining contestants have the chance to perform once again.

Wyngard Tracy performed with Mr. Basil Valdez for the song "Hiram na Mukha." Tim Yap had a very energetic production number with concert queen Ms. Pop Fernandez as they sang "Total Eclipse of the Heart." Jessica Rodriguez-Bunevacz sang passionately with her partner Ms. Janet Basco for the song "The Look of Love." According to the judges, Dr. Hayden Kho is getting better on stage. He performed the song "If You're Not The One" with Jennylyn Mercado.

Meanwhile, Dr. Manny Calayan performed Louie Ocampo's composition "Si Aida, Si Lorna, o Si Fe" with singer-comedian Allan K. The cosmetic surgeon even wore an OFW outfit and played around with mannequins to add a comedic touch to his routine.

Watch the non-professional singers improve their skills in the reality singing competition Celebrity Duets every Saturday, right after Fantastic Man on GMA-7.
