TV5 is set to bring another exciting weekend game show to Philippine primetime television.
The local version of the worldwide game phenomenon, The Million Peso Money Drop, will start airing this Sunday, October 14, at 8:30 p.m. on TV5.
The new program will be hosted by Vic Sotto, who has been dubbed as the “Bossing of All Game Shows.”
At the October 10 press conference of the said show, the TV host-actor said this program would be totally different from his hit game show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, which recently ended.
Vic told members of the media, “Noong una ko itong pinanood, I found it really different.
“Unlike other million game shows, you have to start from zero, magiging ganito o ganyan, and hopefully, umabot ka ng one million.
“But the fact na you start with one million, I’ll tell you na that’s yours, you can touch it, you can feel it, but don’t bring it home yet.
“Paghihirapan mo pa ng kaunti.
“Walong tanong lang. Tatlong easy, ‘tapos medium, ‘tapos hard.
“Ang maganda naman, kapag hard na, kaunti na lang ang choices mo.
“Hindi na masyadong mahihirapan ‘yong utak mo na tatlo o apat ‘yong choices mo.”
Because of its mechanics, Vic believes that The Million Peso Money Drop will attract the attention of TV viewers.
“One thing exciting about this game show is that it’s all baligtad, eh,” he pointed out.
“Usually sa game shows, sa end nagbibigay ng premyo, di ba?
“Kung magkano ‘yong premyo, usually sa dulo nalalaman.
“Ito, panalo ka na ng one million. It’s just a matter of taking care the one million—kung gaano ka katapang, kung gaano ka ka-smart.”
He also stressed the tension that could build up during the game, which could also affect the viewers.
“‘Yong tensyon na mararamdaman mo even as a viewer, you don’t have to be a contestant, mapi-feel mo sa bahay, eh, first question pa lang.
“Iba ‘yong nakikita mo ‘yong sandamukal na pera, isang milyon ‘yon. At ‘yong nakikita mong nahuhulog, ang taas ng huhulugan, eh.
“Sometimes even if you’re sure of your answer, kapag may malapit nang mag-money drop, talaga namang nakikita ko ‘yong mga contestants na butil-butil ang pawis sa nerbyos.”
Vic is confident that The Million Peso Money Drop will also be a hit in the Philippines just as it has become popular in other countries.
“Ito ang bagong kinalolokohan sa buong mundo,” he even stated.
The Million Peso Money Drop will be holding another round of auditions on October 18, Thursday, at TV5 Delta Studio.
Interested participants only need to bring the following: two valid IDs, one 2x2 photograph of themselves, an original NBI clearance, birth certificate and medical certificate.
For its pilot episode, The Million Peso Money Drop will have Eric and Epy Quizon as contestants. Watch them play on this game show this Sunday, October 14, at 8:30 p.m. on TV5.
