Five performers in "Celebrity Duets" remain safe until next week

When the dashing Dr. Hayden Kho, Jr. is paired with the daring Katrina Halili, expect sparks to fly aplenty. The September 29 episode of Celebrity Duets wasanother non-elimination round.

Five fabulous performances, heart-wrenching tense moments, and a non-elimination round happened on Celebrity Duets this week.

Celebrity Duets hosts Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez announced that the September 29 episode was a non-elimination round, meaning each performer would be safe and sound until next week.

Setting the pace for last night's stellar performances were the female contenders. The ladies were definitely on fire in this particular round. The first performer was Tessa Prieto-Valdes, with guest partner Arnel Ignacio, who made her supporters proud with her rendition of "Proud Mary."

Vampy Jessica Rodriguez-Bunevacz wore a sexy black number and was paired with the equally lovely Cacai Velasquez-Mitra. They brought the house down when they sang "Bring Me to Life" with gusto.

Not to be outdone by their "diva" counterparts, Wyngard Tracy together with Mark Bautista suavely strolled and hit the sentimental chords with their rendition of "Oh Mandy." Special guest judge Mel Villanueva was quick to say that Wyngard made the song his own.

All jazzed up and ready to breathe life into the song "Get Here" were Dr. Manny Calayan and Aicelle Santos, Pinoy Pop Superstar Season 2 runner-up. Manny earned praises from Celebrity Duets judge Buboy Garovillo. "He managed to hit the high notes," said the APO Hiking Society member in praise of the cosmetic surgeon.

Debonair Dr. Hayden Kho, Jr. and guest partner, sultry Katrina Halili on the other hand, sizzled in their "Careless Whisper" number. Celebrity Duets judge Mitch Valdez commented that Hayden is a "victim of his standard." Mitch added that Hayden has to maintain that standard.

Find out who will finally go home in the next round of Celebrity Duets.

Celebrity Duets, hosted by Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid, airs every Saturday night on GMA-7.
