Miss World 2013 Megan Young will have a motorcade in Makati on October 11

Oct 10, 2013

"Bringing pride to the Filipinos, recently crowned Miss World 2013 Megan Lynne Young returns to her home country this October 10 (Thursday) to celebrate her historic triumph with fans and supporters.

"After besting 125 candidates last September 28, 2013 at the Nusa Bali Convention Center, the 23-year-old beauty queen kicks off her World Tour in Manila as announced by Miss World Philippines Chairman and CEO Cory Quirino.

"Winning the 'coveted blue crown,' as pageant experts put it, of Miss World has always been considered more than a dream because it bordered on near-obsession for pageant aficionados. This, because the Philippines had never before succeeded in winning the Miss World Crown in the 62-year existence of this prestigious pageant. Many called it elusive and jinxed and yet, Megan Young dispelled everyone’s fears with her victory.

"Upon arrival, Young is expected to have a presscon at Solaire to be followed by her appearance in the NBA Global Game at the SM Mall of Asia Arena to do the ceremonial toss.

"The next day, Miss World Fans are requested to wear something blue because after Megan’s courtesy call with President Benigno Aquino III, everyone will get the chance to meet Young along the route of the motorcade (from Makati Central Post Office to Ayala Avenue and EDSA) and in a short program to be held at the SM Mall of Asia.

"Aside from these, Megan will also come back to her hometown Olongapo City and meet with the City Mayor Rolen Paulino. Miss World fans can also catch her at Kapuso Network’s Sunday fare, Sunday All Stars. A charity visit will also be held at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) on October 14 (Monday) followed by a Commendation from the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines.

"Megan Young embarks on her tour with Miss World Chair and CEO Julia Morley, Steve Douglas and Victoria Cameron."
