Kris is no stranger to earning recognitions for her hosting skill, having received a slew of hosting awards here in the Philippines.
Still, she considers the Asian TV nomination a “breakthrough.”
She revealed, “Umiyak talaga ako. Hindi inaasahan… Sa totoo lang po, sa lahat ng pinagdadaanan natin, it brings me so much pride and honor to represent our country. Of course, hindi natin alam kung sino ang mananalo…
"Of course, parang panalo na tayo!"
She expressed her gratitude to the people behind her morning show, Kris TV.
"The nomination is me as presenter in the show that represents me, araw-araw through the good and bad.
"Kung ano po ako, yun ang nakikita n'yo dito at eto yung sa mata nila, gusto nila bigyan ng parangal.
"Just the fact that you are nominated, is such a big achievement.
“Yung parating sinasabi ng mga tao si God nakikita lahat ng mga ginagawa mo and all, sa gitna po na pinagdadaanan ng Pilipinas, inaalay ko po ito sa inyong lahat.
"Kung may tagumpay akong makukuha, binabalik ko po ito sa inyo. And, of course, my ABS-CBN family.
"This victory is ours. Let’s claim the victory. It’s a victory already coz tayo lang the only personality na host in a non-acting category from the Philippines na galing sa ABS-CBN na ni-nominate at ako po 'yon."
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN's The X Factor Philippines is the lone Filipino reality show that will compete in the Best Reality Show category along with programs from Singapore, Indonesia, India, and China.
DEDICATED TO CORY AQUINO. Visibly overwhelmed with emotion, the actress added that her mom, the late President Cory Aquino, would have been very proud of this achievement.
“Alam ko from heaven, super proud ang mom ko for this. Yun talaga ang inisip ko. Sinabi niya sa akin, what you are doing should not just be for you, dapat may higher purpose ka: [to] inspire.
"Siguro, itong Asian Awards, it’s really for the country at magbigay parangal sa bandila ng Pilipinas.”
On a lighter note, Kris shared that her son, Bimby, asked her, “'Mama, if you win the award, are you gonna kiss anybody?'”
She said that she promised her youngest son, “No, I’m not gonna kiss anybody in Singapore."
The 18th Asian TV Awards will be held at Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa on December 5, 2013.
