GMA scores top ratings in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in November 2013, based on Nielsen data

According to Nielsen data, top programs in Urban Luzon were the Manny Pacquiao-Brandon Rios boxing match as well as news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho andreality sitcom Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay na Kuwento.


GMA’s airing of [the Manny] Pacquiao-[Brandon] Rios bout is most watched program in NUTAM, Urban Luzon, and Mega Manila.

GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) is set to end the year on a winning note as it continued to dominate the viewer-rich areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in November based on data from the industry’s leading ratings service provider, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Urban Luzon and Mega Manila represent 77 and 59 percent, respectively, of the total urban television households in the country.

Moreover, GMA’s airing of the Pacquiao-Rios bout dubbed Pacquiao vs. Rios Fight as One emerged as the most watched program (including specials) across NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement), Urban Luzon, and Mega Manila by virtue of its commanding ratings.

For the period November 1 to 30 (November 24 to 30 based on overnight data), GMA led other networks in Urban Luzon with a 35.8 percent total day audience share, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 32.5 percent by 3.3 points, and of TV5’s 11.1 percent by 24.7 points.

Majority of the top programs in Urban Luzon were from GMA, with 17 out of 30. Joining the Pacquiao-Rios bout in the top slots are multi-awarded news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, reality sitcom Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay na Kuwento, flagship newscast 24 Oras, newly launched program Picture! Picture!, equally successful game show Celebrity Bluff, weekly drama anthology Magpakailanman, and Saturday night comedy program Vampire Ang Daddy Ko.

Rounding out the list are infotainment show Kap’s Amazing Stories, primetime series Adarna, family drama One Day Isang Araw, longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga, weekend newscast 24 Oras Weekend, hard-hitting public affairs program Imbestigador, and GMA Telebabad’s Genesis, Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas, and Kahit Nasaan Ka Man.

The Kapuso Network also maintained its strong performance and led across all dayparts in Mega Manila, where it posted a 36.8 percent total day audience share average, up 6.7 points from ABS-CBN’s 30.1 percent and up 24.8 points from TV5’s 12 percent.

Leading across all dayparts in Mega Manila, GMA outnumbered ABS-CBN in the list of top programs in the area with 18 out of 30. Included in the top 10 programs alongside the Pacquiao-Rios bout are Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Pepito Manaloto: Ang Tunay na Kuwento, 24 Oras, Celebrity Bluff, Magpakailanman, Vampire Ang Daddy Ko, and Picture! Picture!

Also garnering top ratings in GMA’s bailiwick are Kap's Amazing Stories, Adarna, One Day Isang Araw, Imbestigador, Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas, Eat Bulaga, Genesis, 24 Oras Weekend, Kahit Nasaan Ka Man, and the country’s longest running gag show Bubble Gang.

GMA and TV5 subscribe to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement while ABS-CBN is the lone local major TV network that reportedly subscribes to Kantar Media, formerly known as TNS.

In Mega Manila, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement gathers data based on a sample size of 1,190 homes as compared to Kantar Media's 770 homes. Meanwhile, Nielsen has a nationwide urban sample size of 2,000 homes, which is statistically higher than Kantar's sample size of 1,370.
