As a first-timer in doing a sitcom, John Lloyd Cruz never imagined that Home Sweetie Home would click among viewers.
On its pilot episode, according to data from Kantar Media/TNS, ABS-CBN’s new Sunday sitcom ranked 19.9 percent, making it the most watched TV program last January 5.
Until now, John Lloyd’s TV show with Toni Gonzaga is doing fairly well in the ratings game.
“Para sa Sunday night na program, hindi namin ine-expect na ganun ang magiging reception.
“Pero siyempre, nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng mga nag-aabang tuwing Linggo, sa lahat ng nagpapakita ng suporta at nanonood palagi,” says John Lloyd in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) recently.
Apart from good TV ratings, John Lloyd appreciates positive feedback from viewers who like what they are doing in the sitcom.
When asked what were the comments he has received so far, John Lloyd said, “Well, ‘yong kabuuan ng show, ‘yon ang madalas kong naririnig.
“Parang easy viewing, bagay sa Linggo, sa oras na ‘yon, and maganda ‘yong values na ini-impart ng show.”
The Kapamilya actor believes that the theme of the show makes it relevant to viewers.
He explains, “Kasi, ‘yong show namin, kung ano ‘yong nangyayaring reality ngayon. Kagaya no’n, ‘yong mag-asawa kasama ‘yong dalawang pamilya.
“So, ‘yong setting napaka-common sa maraming tao.
“Hindi kami nahihirapan to be accessible and to be relatable.
“Nagpapasalamat kami na nagta-translate ‘yon sa ratings.
“Dahil doon siguro kaya pinapanood kami.”
With three episodes so far, John Lloyd hopes Home Sweetie Home maintains its performance in the long run.
He then expressed his wish for the show, “Sana maging Sunday habit talaga siya ng mga Pilipino.”
