Last Saturday, February 8, two important events took place in two rival noontime shows.
Karylle revealed details about her upcoming wedding on ABS-CBN's It's Showtime while Wally Bayola issued an apology on GMA-7's Eat Bulaga.
WEDDING BELLS FOR KARYLLE AND YAEL. At the start of It's Showtime, a red carpet decorated with flower petals was placed on the stage.
Coleen Garcia introduced Karylle, whom she described as their sister who had an important annoucement to make.
When Karylle entered, she was given a group hug by all of the hosts to remove her "tension."
A tearful Karylle then gave a speech wherein she revealed that she had been in a relationship with Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon for the past three years and a half.
“Not a lot of people know, some three and a half years ago, a new chapter in my life started—the happiest and most exciting one yet," she admitted. “I started as a hurado here in Showtime and I became part of the Showtime family.
"At kakambal po nito, dumating si Yael sa buhay ko."
The singer-TV host also revealed that she will marry Yael this March.
WALLY BAYOLA APOLOGIZES. Comedian-TV host Wally Bayola finally reappeared on Eat Bulaga on February 8.
Popularly known as Jose Manalo’s sidekick, Bayola timed his return to mark Jose’s birthday which falls on February 12.
The comedian has not been visible for the past five months since his involvement in a sex video scandal with EB Babe Yosh Rivera in September 2013. After the video went viral on the Internet, the comedian kept mum about the issue and was no longer seen in the noontime show.
Wally took part in Jose Manalo and Paolo Ballesteros’ “Bayanihan” segment that took place in Paco, Manila.
Jose was presented a heart-shaped cake with a lighted candle.
Jose hugged his good friend Wally and advised his sidekick to put his life back in order. “Sana maging maayos na ang buhay mo. Sabi nga natin lahat naman tayo, lahat ng tao nagkakaroon ng pagkakasala, lahat ng tao nagkakaroon ng pagkakamali. Ang importante kung papaano natin tatanggapin, papaano natin aaminin sa sarili natin.”
MEGA MANILA RATINGS. Based on ratings data recorded in Mega Manila by AGB Nielsen, Eat Bulaga was able to get 23.6 percent.
This figure is 9.9 points higher than It's Showtime, which registered 13.7 percent.
NATIONWIDE RATINGS. It's Showtime, the Kapamilya noontime show, had a slight lead in national TV ratings across urban and rural homes with its rating of 14.9 percent.
Eat Bulaga registered 13.3% on that day, based on data from Kantar Media/TNS.
