ABS-CBN's educational program Matanglawin, the promotional plug "Sprout" and documentaries Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay Kay Ninoy Aquino as well as another documentary dubbed Tagas ng Minahan were able to achieve finalist status in the New York Festival's 57th International Television & Film Awards.

Five entries from ABS-CBN received the honor of being nominated in the 2014 New York Festivals International Television and Film Awards.

The ABS-CBN entries that are nominated in the 57th edition of the International Television & Film Awards are as follows:

Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay Kay Ninoy Aquino

Graphic Design Promotion/Open & IDs:
Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay Kay Ninoy Aquino

Current Affairs:
Tagas ng Minahan

Matanglawin: Elephants

Green Promotion:

Narrated by Jaime Fabregas, the documentary Agosto Beinte-Uno: Ang Pagpatay kay Ninoy Aquino is competing in the Biography/Profiles category as well as in the Graphic Design Promotion/Open & IDs category because of its opening billboard.

Aired thirty years after the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., this documentary presents forensic evidence about the still-unsolved crime.

Getting a nod in the Green Promotion category is “Sprout,” which is a plug for the One Run, One Philippines event. In the plug created for the ABS-CBN-sponsored event, a group of people are shown running on the streets and computer-generated plants are digitally added to the environment.

Ted Failon's "Tagas ng Minahan" for Failon Ngayon earned a nomination in the Current Affairs category. This tackles the environmental hazards caused by mining spills, particularly the 2012 mine spill in Benguet involving PHILEX Mining Corporation.

Completing the list is Kim Atienza's Matanglawin: Elephants episode, which featured Mali the elephant in Manila Zoo.

Aside from these 5 nominees, there are 11 other entries from GMA-7.

Programs, specials, a music video, a station promotion from the Kapuso network, as well as broadcast journalists Jessica Soho are among those selected as finalists in the 57th edition of the prestigious award-giving body.
