ABS-CBN clarifies Billy Crawford not suspended from It's Showtime

Coleen Garcia says Billy Crawford is now working on his movie Moron 5.

After being involved in a controversy recently, Billy Crawford has not been hosting the ABS-CBN noontime program It's Showtime.

It will be recalled that last September 7, Billy was detained for malicious mischief at a police precinct located in Taguig. As a result, he was charged with malicious mischief and disobedience to a person in authority.

Billy admits that he was "under the influence of alcohol" at the time. However, he insists: "It was my fault pero wala akong nasaktan, wala akong itinulak, wala akong tinamaan kundi yung salamin."

On September 8, it was announced on the show that both Billy and his girlfriend, Coleen Garcia, were to take a break on It's Showtime.

Last Wednesday, September 10, Coleen returned to hosting Showtime but she said Billy would still not appear on the variety show.

Coleen expressed gratitude for the fans who have shown support for her boyfriend. "Billy is back and working," revealed Coleen.

"Nagte-taping siya para sa [movie na] Moron 5. Sooner than later, babalik na siya dito sa Showtime.

"Binilin niya sa akin na magpasalamat para sa mga taong sumusuporta sa kanya and until now, talagang dinedefend siya. He's just thankful but ngayon, talagang okay na okay siya."

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN denies reports saying that Billy has been suspended from Showtime.

In a statement sent by ABS-CBN spokesman Bong Osorio, he pointed out: "There is no truth to reports that Billy Crawford has been suspended from 'It's Showtime.' Billy is taking a short break from his hosting duty following the incident last weekend."

In his Instagram account, Matteo Guidicelli, posted a photo of Billy with their other Moron 5 co-stars.

Matteo's caption reads: "Rest time for the M5. #moron52 #superhero @luckymanzano @billyjoecrawford @djdurano @marvinagustin"
