“Ay, sobrang happy!”
These were the words Jodi Sta. Maria uttered when asked about the news that Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo are joining the cast of ABS-CBN’s daytime soap, Be Careful With My Heart.
The 32-year-old actress believes that the addition of the popular teen love team will surely add kilig to the light romance TV series.
In the story, Daniel and Kathryn will play the young Manang Fe (Gloria Sevilla) and Mang Anastasio, who seem to have a romantic history together.
“Oo, ‘di ba, yung story ni Manang Fe at ni Mang Anastasio, tapos ang Kathniel [monicker for Kathryn and Daniel’s on screen teamup] pa ang gaganap, so nakakatuwa talaga.
“For sure, aabangan ‘yan ng supporters ng Be Careful and, of course, yung fans din ng Kathniel.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa kanilang dalawa na tinanggap nila yung proyekto. Thank you very much Kathryn and Daniel!” Jodi enthused.
According to Star Cinema executive Mico Del Rosario, Kathryn and Daniel's participation in the series will only be a "limited engagement."
Meantime, Jodi is equally excited with her upcoming horror movie, Maria Leonora Teresa, which is also topbilled by Iza Calzado and Zanjoe Marudo. This horror movie is slated to open in cinemas by September 17.
Jodi brings life to the character of Stella, a single mom who gets devastated when her only child died in a tragic accident.
Asked about her own son’s reaction to the film, Jodi said that she actually brought Thirdy on the set of Maria Leonora Teresa.
“Nakipaglaro [si Thirdy] sa mga manika, sa mga actors. Hindi naman siya natakot. Na-curious pa siya.
“Sabi niya, ‘Mommy, hindi ako afraid kasi friends ko na sila.’
“Pero sa dubbing natatakot na siya,” said Jodi.
