Rochelle Pangilinan on impact of Daisy Siete: "Kapag nandoon ka kasi, hindi mo alam na ganun kalakas yung impact ng TV, e. Hanggang sa malalaman mo na lang after ilang years, yun yung impact sa kanila and minsan, kapag kausap mo na sila, hindi mo alam kung pinaplastic ka na lang nila! Hahaha! Hindi, joke lang!"

Rochelle Pangilinan admitted that she did not expect that Daisy Siete, her defunct show with the Sexbomb Girls, would have a big impact on pop culture.

She feels flattered that netizens would still bring up the show and create memes based on the show.

It was in 2003 when Daisy Siete made its debut on television as an afternoon drama anthology in GMA-7. It ran for 26 seasons until 2010.

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Rochelle was asked about her reaction regarding the memes and social media posts related to Daisy Siete.

Despite the long run of the show and the many dance hits that the Sexbomb Girls were able to produce, Rochelle did not expect that it would have a lasting effect on viewers.

Kahit yung mga sayaw namin before and, of course, Daisy Siete, hindi namin ine-expect."

That changed when she started hearing first-hand stories from former fans and viewers of the show, including her Onanay and The Gift co-star, Jo Berry.

Hahaha! Hindi, joke lang!"

Back then, Rochelle and her co-stars weren't too concerned with the TV ratings.

In fact, Rochelle admitted that at the beginning, the idea of doing a teleserye did not catch her interest.

"Noong sinabi sa akin noon na magkakaroon ng show na Daisy Siete, hindi ako interesado, kasi sanay kami sa live show.

"Sanay kami na after ng show, alis.

Because the fans still have an interest in Sexbomb Girls, the group has been planning to do a reunion concert.

"Kaya nga pinag-uusapan namin ng Sexbomb, 'What if magsi-uwian kayo dito sa Pilipinas tapos mag concert tayo?

"Tapos nagkakagulo kami kung mag-a-Araneta o KIA, and then hindi na lang natuloy kasi nabuntis ako."

Rochelle said that there's still a chance for the concert to push through "kung uuwi yung ibang Sexbomb na nasa ibang bansa."

PEP.ph and other reporters spoke to Rochelle during the media conference of The Gift yesterday, September 9, at Prime Hotel, Quezon City.

Here are some of the social media posts about Sexbomb and Daisy Siete:

ROCHELLE'S COMEBACK PROJECT AFTER PREGNANCY

While the reunion of the Sexbomb girls is not happening yet, Rochelle keeps herself busy with her new GMA-7 prime-time series, The Gift.

Starring Alden Richards, Jo Berry, and Jean Garcia, The Gift is Rochelle's comeback series after giving birth to her first-born with husband Arthur Solinap.

She plays the kontrabida role of Francine, the executive assistant of Christian Vasquez's character, who is actually his mistress. Christian's character is the second husband of the character portrayed by Jean Garcia.

According to Rochelle, this was the first project that GMA-7 offered to her when she decided that it's time for her to return to acting after a six-month break.

She instantly accepted it because it was a complete contrast to her role in Onanay, where she played the kikay friend of Jo Berry.

Relaxed masyado yung role.

As of now, Rochelle had just started taping, but director LA Madridejos has been helping her getting used to playing the kontrabida role.

She elaborated, "In fairness naman kay Direk, ginandahan niya talaga.

As of now, she has only shared scenes with Jean Garcia.

Is she looking forward to doing sampalan scenes with the veteran actress?

The Gift is set to premiere on September 16, 2019 after Beautiful Justice on GMA Telebabad.

Also part of the series are Elizabeth Oropesa, Mikee Quintos, Ysabel Ortega, Mikoy Morales, Thia Thomalia, Divine Tetay, and Martin del Rosario.
