Ara Mina accepts major role in ABS-CBN's "Prinsesa ng Banyera"

When asked to clarify whether she is a Kapamilya or a Kapuso, Ara Mina playfully tells the press, "Dahil 2008 na next year, isa akong Kapilya." She will play the role of Cassandra in ABS-CBN's Prinsesa ng Banyera.

Ara Mina will be seen in an afternoon soap for ABS-CBN next year even as she appears in GMA-7's gag show Bubble Gang. The sexy star will play Cassandra in Prinsesa ng Banyera, her first soap opera for the Kapamilya Network.

"Ako ang mare-reveal na real princess. Maraming twists na mangyayari sa Prinsesa ng Banyera," promises Ara during the pocket presscon held at Osteria restaurant in Timog Avenue yesterday, December 19.

Sabi ko, ‘sure why not?' [laughter] Lahat napagdaanan ko na. New environment, new work, new year," she says enthusiastically.

Did she inform GMA-7 about her decision to accept this role? "Nagpaalam ako and they allowed me naman kasi isa lang ang show ko. I still have a contract with Bubble Gang until next year, in February.

"Freelance ako, e. Yung iba naguguluhan kasi may show ako sa kabila [Bubble Gang] but I'm not exclusive."

Did they try to stop her from accepting the role from the rival network?

"May ino-offer sila sa akin pero it's too late kasi natanggap ko na ang Banyera at ayaw kong masira pag-commit dito sa Prinsesa. Ayaw ko silang ma-hassle kasi all set na sila [ABS-CBN] for me and yung script talaga ginagawa nila for me. Baka magkaproblema pa yung show dahil sa akin.

Does she have plans to sign up with the Kapamilya Network?

"We'll see.

The 28-year old sexy star has been with the GMA-7 gag show for the past nine years.

Ara is grateful for the lessons she learned while doing comedy for the Kapuso Network. "I need to move on kasi nami-miss ko na ang drama. I'm not getting any younger.

What was the counter offer of GMA-7 for her?

I'm willing to take the risk.

Did she regret turning down a role in a primetime soap in GMA-7?

There are reports that she has a "tampo" with GMA-7 because she is not being prioritized by her home network.

"May tampo na ako? I'll be vocal about it na normal naman yun kahit sa kapatid, nagkakatampuhan.
