Jericho Rosales confirms John Lloyd Cruz has backed out from the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye Bridges.
During the press conference of the 2014 Cinema One Originals Film Festival held yesterday, November 4, Jericho reveals that Xian Lim has now replaced John Lloyd in the said TV project.
"Of course, I'm very, very sad," said Jericho about missing out on the chance to work with JLC.
"But I understand certain things...details that I cannot mention. The opportunity na makatrabaho si John Lloyd, maraming tao na nalungkot..."
Jericho continued: "Si John Lloyd, I cannot speak for him but he has valid reasons.
"I respect the guy so much...
"It's just a project. Actors have the right to say yes and the right to say no, depende sa sitwasyon at panahon. I have said no to so many projects. I've declined some projects and people have said na 'bakit mo pinakawalan?'
"But I'm happy now and I'm doing this."
In a previous interview, John Lloyd explained why he will not be part of the teleserye with Jericho and Maja Salvador.
“October kasi, mag-e-expire yung contract ko. “Hindi ko siya magagawa while I’m negotiating my contract with ABS-CBN.
“Siyempre, mahirap yun, kasi hindi pa kayo nagkakasundo, may ginagawa ka na."

Meanwhile, Echo (Jericho's nickname) is flattered to know that Xian thinks very highly of him.
"Si Xian kasi approached me and told me, 'Excited ako makatrabaho ka. It's an honor.'"
Echo added: "Since Xian is on board, honestly, hindi ko pa alam kung ano ang final decision ng management but Xian has expressed his excitement and I heard that he's been working hard on the role.
"Para sa akin, as an actor, I'll give you my support."
In Bridges, Jericho co-stars again with Maja Salvador, his previous leading lady in the infidelity-themed series The Legal Wife.
Echo is very excited to be reunited with Maja.
"Alam mo naman kung gaano ka-kalog at kung gaano kagaling yun. At the same time Direk Dado [Lumibao], the same team na gumawa ng The Legal Wife," he said.
ON KATHNIEL REMAKING PANGAKO SA 'YO. There have been reports indicating that Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will topbill the remake of Pangako Sa 'Yo.
This teleserye launched the popular tandem of Jericho and Kristine Hermosa when it was aired on ABS-CBN in 2000.
The said primetime series revolves around the love story of Angelo Buenavista and Yna Macaspac. It has been shown in over 20 territories such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, China, Kenya, Ghana, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, and Uganda, among others.
Jericho said about Kathniel starring in the remake of Pangako Sa 'Yo, the actor pointed out: "Perfect combination. Excited ako to watch it."
"Pero kung tatanungin n'yo ako, they deserve to be Angelo and Yna kasi ang lakas-lakas ng loveteam nila.
"And Pangako Sa 'Yo ang pundasyon ng love story nila pero let's not forget Madam Claudia [portrayed by Jean Garcia]; and let's not forget Amor Powers, si Eula Valdes; and si Governor [portrayed by Tonton Gutierrez].
"Kathniel, solved na yun, e. Yung tatlo, sina Amor Powers, sina Claudia, yun din ang pinagkakaguluhan ng mga tao. Excited ako makita yun."

The Kapamilya actor who originally portrayed Angelo revealed that he also received an offer to be part of the remake but he declined.
Jericho laughed before answering, "I'm sure si Kristine [Hermosa] natanong rin.
"Natanong rin ako for a role but I had to say no. Ang decision ko lang talaga, gusto ko lang manood.
"Gusto kong manood ng show na hindi ako involved.
"May inoffer na role pero siguro they were being polite. For me, thank you very much pero gusto ko panoorin na lang."
ON DOING ACTION FOR CINEMA ONE ENTRY. This November, moviegoers will get to see Jericho in an action film titled Red.
It is one of the ten films that will compete in the 10th edition of Cinema One Originals film festival that will run from November 9 to 18, 2014.
Directed by Jay Abello, Red will be screened in Fairview Terraces, Glorietta, Trinoma and Greenhills Dolby Atmos theaters.
In this crime action drama set in Bacolod, Jericho's character is a shy orphan who becomes a "fixer" who can bail anyone out of trouble.
One day, a rich kid is gunned down in a drug bust that results in the disappearance of P8 million pesos worth of drugs. Red is hired by a socialite named Art to settle the mess. Later on, the dutiful fixer gets framed for the crime.
"Ang Red ay istorya ng Bacolod fixer," Jericho says as he sums up his 2014 Cinema One entry.
"May accent ako, may action, and may love story na very entertaining."
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Jericho admitted that he is glad to topbill an action movie.
He describes his character by saying, "Isa siyang underground fixer na lumaki sa girlie bar. Lumaki siya [surrounded by] sex, dancing, sigarilyo...eventually he owned the bar and became a fixer.
"Matagal-tagal na akong naghahanap na malagay sa action genre. Lagi akong nalalagay sa dramatic roles, enjoy naman ako.
"Pero iba sa big screen, throwing punches, may action sequences, may goons...bakbakan 'to.
"Basically, it's a love story na may action and crime."
For this film, the Kapamilya actor also had to chance to act opposite OPM icon Pepe Smith who played his adoptive father.
"Si Mulo [played by Pepe Smith] ang tatay-tatayan ko. Siya ang nag-ampon sa character ko.
"Idol niya si Mulo, kung ano ang suot ni Mulo, ina-acquire niya yun."
Mercedes Cabral serves as his love interest in Red.
"Yung focus ni Red kay Mai [played by Mercedes], para siyang animal na naghahanap ng mate. Walang gagalaw sa kanya, akin 'yan."
