GMA-7 has released the trailer of its much-anticipated version of the Korean drama series Descendants of the Sun.
The full trailer was launched on December 22, 2019, during the airing of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.
As previously announced, Dingdong Dantes will play the role of Captain Lucas aka Big Boss. His military captain character was played by Song Joong-Ki in the Korean version.
Jennylyn Mercado will play Dr. Maxine aka Beauty, previously played by Song Hye Kyo in the Korean version.
Jasmine Curtis Smith and Rocco Nacino will play the roles of Moira and Diego, respectively.
The trailer showed iconic scenes of the original version. In one scene, Moira and Diego were having an argument, and Moira asked Diego to salute her when he turned his back on her.
Another scene shown in the trailer was when Lucas caught Maxine yawning while looking disheveled.
The trailer also showed a stuffed toy that will become an important element in the story.
GMA-7 ended the trailer with the iconic shoelace scene of Maxine and Lucas.
The theme song of Descendants of the Sun titled "You Are My Everything" is interpreted by Julie Anne San Jose for the Philippine version.
Directed by Dominic Zapata, the Philippine adaptation of Descendants of the Sun is expected to air in early 2020 on GMA Telebabad.

They questioned the team-up of Jennylyn and Dingdong, since they were reminded of their father-daughter relationship in Encantadia. In the original 2005 Encantadia series, Jennylyn was cast as Lira. Meanwhile, Dingdong played Ybrahim, Lira's father.
