Vice Ganda bids goodbye to Gandang Gabi Vice after 9 years

Vice Ganda bids goodbye to his show, Gandang Gabi Vice, which aired for nine years. However, he posted on Twitter: "Don’t be sad. No goodbyes. GGV will be back. Isang mahabang commercial break lang."

After nine years on television, Vice Ganda bid goodbye to his Sunday talk show, Gandang Gabi Vice.

The ABS-CBN show, popularly known as GGV, aired its final episode on March 8, 2020. The last guest of the show was Raffy Tulfo, the host of the radio and online program Wanted sa Radyo.

At the end of the episode, Vice delivered a three-minute farewell message to loyal viewers of Gandang Gabi Vice.

In the words of the TV host-comedian: "Hindi na natin mabilang kung ilan na ang naging bisita natin sa programang ito, celebrities, non-celebrities, instant celebrities, politicians, artists, showbiz personalities, pangkaraniwang taong nag-viral sa social media, nag-trending—lahat, maraming, maraming salamat.

"It's been nine years, nine super joyful years, nine very successful years—maraming, maraming salamat.

"Kasi last episode po natin 'to ng GGV, and I'm very happy kasi we saved the best for last. I believe it's Sir Raffy Tulfo.

"Sa inyong lahat, mga madlang pipol, thank you very much."

According to Vice, Gandang Gabi Vice was only intended to run for one season, but its success led to nine long years on air at the Kapamilya channel.

Continuing, the box-office star said: "Ang laking achievement na magkaroon ng programang katulad nito na ako ang host. It’s just a dream.

"Nine years ago, I was given a chance to host my own show, Gandang Gabi Vice, and we were promised to air the show only for one season. For ilang weeks lang yun and then, yung last day ng first season, nagulat kami, biglang sinabing extended daw ng another season.

"Hanggang sa nagulat tayo, nine years na ang Gandang Gabi Vice. Hindi lahat, humahaba nang ganun, di ba?"

Vice also said that loyal viewers of the timeslot won't miss him, since he is also hosting Gandang Gabi Vice's replacement program, Everybody, Sing!

"Huwag po kayong mag-alala, hindi niyo ako mamimiss kasi same day, same time, mapapanuod niyo pa rin ako, ibang title lang, ibang trip lang pero sobrang saya promise, dito sa Everybody, Sing!

"Mas marami tayong mababagong buhay, mas masaya tayong lahat, hindi lang dalawa ang masaya kung hindi marami. Daan ang magiging masaya."

VICE GANDA APOLOGIZES TO THOSE OFFENDED BY GGV

At this point, Vice Ganda thanked the management of ABS-CBN, the staff of GGV, its guests, and its loyal viewers for supporting the show.

"I would like to say thank you very much sa management ng ABS-CBN, maraming salamat sa staff namin.

"Yung banda namin, maraming, maraming salamat po at binigyan niyo ng karagdagang buhay ang programa namin.

"Lahat ng staff ,ang mga cameramen, direktor namin na napakabait, napakagaling na si sir Arnel Natividad, sa lahat ng naging guests namin—maraming, maraming salamat.

"Sa lahat ng nag-abang sa amin at nakatutok tuwing Linggo, maraming salamat."

Vice then apologized for the times when their jokes or gimmicks went too far and offended some viewers.

Vice continued, "I am not perfect, the show is not perfect, sigurado ako may mga pagkakataon na nao-offend namin kayo, ang mga nakasanayan niyo, ang mga paniniwala niyo sa buhay, o ang mga trip ninyo, o hindi niyo trip yung mga ginagawa namin—we apologize.

"Wala po kaming intensyon na masama, pero maraming salamat pa rin.

"This is a very big blessing, mabuhay tayong lahat at maraming naging masaya sa Gandang Gabi Vice."

Gandang Gabi Vice premiered on May 22, 2011.

The show was supposed to run for 12 episodes, but was extended 26 more weeks.

On its 39th episode, on February 12, 2012, the show was supposed to end its run. There was actually a teaser that indicated that the 39th episode would be the show's last one.

However, during the supposed final episode that Gandang Gabi Vice, the announcement was made that the show would continue airing.

On February 3, 2020, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) reported, through its PEP Alerts column, that Gandang Gabi Vice would end its run after nine years.

VICE GANDA TWEETS ABOUT GGV'S POSSIBLE COMEBACK

While ABS-CBN was airing the final episode of Gandang Gabi Vice on March 8, Vice was also tweeting about the show's end.

He first wrote (published as is): "Uuuuuuuyyyyy ngayon [pa] lang namimiss na nila ang GGV!!! #GandangGabiVice"

Vice also tweeted about the show's extension from 12 episodes to 9 years.

He wrote, "Mahal nyo kasi ang GGV kaya nagtagal tayo ng ganito. From 12 episodes to 9yrs real quick!!! #GandangGabiVice"

Vice then tweeted that Gandang Gabi Vice will still be seen in the future.

He wrote: "Don’t be sad. No goodbyes. GGV will be back. Isang mahabang commercial break lang. I love you guys! #GandangGabiVice

"Napakasarap malamang masaya kayong nakapiling ako at ang GGV sa loob ng 9 years. Masaya akong nakapagpasaya ako. Salamat po!!! #GandangGabiVice"

His last tweet about the show's finale was a group photo of the show's staff members.

Vice tweeted, "Mahal na mahal ko kayo!!!! Maraming salamat!!! #GandangGabiVice"
