Ciara Sotto has been associated mostly with GMA-7 during the years she was active in showbiz.

She started her acting career in TGIS, a youth-oriented series produced by VIVA Television in 1995.

There was also a time between the years 2001 and 2004 when Ciara became a part of ABS-CBN shows.

Apart from ASAP, she also became a regular in the weekly series Buttercup, which aired from 2003 to 2004.

Ciara called to mind the big Kapamilya names in the show as she recounted in her recent PEPLive interview the years she worked with them.

She related, “Masaya iyon kasi parang ang sisikat noong mga kasama ko: Claudine Barretto, Piolo Pascual, Diether Ocampo, Assunta de Rossi, Mico Palanca, bless his soul.

“Although may kanya-kanya kaming mundo, kapag magkakasama na kami, masaya!”

Ciara remembered becoming close to Claudine, Assunta, and Piolo at that time.

She narrated, “Kasi sobrang bait ni Piolo. Actually, parang kuya-kuya ko talaga siya.

"Kumbaga hanggang ngayon, kapag nagkita kami, sobrang bait na kuya pa rin niya.

“'Tapos kami ni Clau and Assunta, naging sobrang close kaming tatlo na to the point na ni-request ni Claudine na kapag nag-A-ASAP kami, kaming tatlo din sa isang dressing room so hindi kami magkahiwalay.

“’Tapos kapag may break, magla-lunch out kami, ganyan.”

In the series, Ciara played the younger sister of Assunta, who was the best friend of Claudine’s character.

Ciara also revealed an interesting trivia about her character and that of Assunta.

She said, “Sa Buttercup, parang na-test iyong comic skills ko. Comedian kami doon ni Ate Sam, ni Assunta.

“Kaming dalawa iyong magkapatid doon, pero in real life, I’m older than her... parang one year ba or two years?

“Ginawa siyang ate ko doon kasi she’s taller. Older talaga ako sa kanya, pero Ate Sam pa rin ang tawag ko sa kanya.”

REUNION WITH TGIS CO-STARS IN BUTTERCUP

Buttercup also became the setting for the reunion of Ciara and his love-team partner in TGIS and ex-boyfriend, Onemig Bondoc.

Although in the show, they were not a love team, but a young woman and a gay blade competing for the attention of Carlos Agassi.

Later, Ciara and Onemig would also reunite with Angelu de Leon and Bobby Andrews, their other co-stars in TGIS, when the two joined the second season of Buttercup.

Recollecting her bond with the cast of Buttercup, Ciara said, “Masaya din grabe, ang crazy din namin doon! Minsan, iinom kami sa set. Siyempre adult, e.”

Talking about Buttercup, Ciara was reminded about the late director Wenn V. Deramas.

She said, “Nakaka-miss rin si Direk Wenn kasi si Direk Wenn, iyong script niya, kunyari may script, papalitan niya iyon ‘tapos magiging effective pa.

“’Tapos mas nakakatawa, mas nate-train ka ba ng improvisation and all and ang galing din kasi ng ideas niya, e. Nakaka-miss din iyon.”
