“Childhood dream ko talaga na maging piloto at maging pari,” lahad ni Arkin nitong Oktubre 1, Huwebes ng gabi, via Messenger.
“Growing up, my elder sisters and brother didn't allow me to go somewhere else after school, I need to go straight home.
“I remember I wanted to join karate and archery club, but they were very strict to me.
“The only thing I can only do was to watch a lot of Hollywood movies—as in a lot, there were hundreds of DVDs at home placed under the television cabinet, and I literally finished them during my high school and college days.
“So, yung frustration ko to join karate and archery club, ibinuhos ko lahat sa panonood ng Hollywood movies.
“So now, probably if my mom is still alive, she wouldn't be surprised that I turned out to be an actor, and she could be probably be laughing right now because of happiness.”
BACK-TO-BACK BL SERIES
Maraming na-disappoint sa experimental BL series na Oh My Sexual, na nagtatampok din kina Ken Miles, Kim Nigel, Neil Raagas, Thirdy Trinidad, at DJ Cruz.
Ang Episode 1 (“Oh My Pandemic”) na nag-premiere noong Agosto 18 sa YouTube Channel na Oh My Sexual ay naka-8.8K views pa lamang.
Ang Episode 7 (“Oh My Trio”) na ipinalabas nitong Setyembre 29, Martes, ay wala pang 500 views as of this writing.
Mas inaabangan ang Boyband Love, na ipapalabas ang Episode 1 bukas, Oktubre 3, Sabado ng 10:00 P.M., sa YouTube channel ng Starcast Entertainment.
Katambal dito ni Arkin si Gus Villa, na proud member ng LGBT community.
Nasa cast din sina Louie Gabarda, Luis Gragera, at Job P. Abogado.
“I am very grateful that I was given opportunities to lead in two consecutive BL series,” pahayag ni Arkin.
“Although they are completely different and unparalleled, both have given me lessons that I could use in my future projects.
“Yes, Boyband Love The Series is more relatable, it has wider market, especially mga teens.
“Sa ngayon, maraming fans ng mga boybands, kaya dito tina-tackle kung ano talaga yung nangyayari offcam and backstage.
“It's an open secret na meron talagang mga nagkakagustuhan sa mga members, and iyon yung gusto namin maipakita.
“As an ALLY, I want to be the voice ng mga LGBTQ+ community para maikuwento yung stories nila.”
MUSIC COMPONENT
Dahil Boyband Love ang title ng BL series, na-showcase ba ang dancing at singing skills nila?
“Unang-una, gusto naming ipagmalaki na ito ang kauna-unahang BL series sa Philippines na merong music component,” tugon ni Arkin.
“So, meron talagang mga sing and dance. Original songs po yung mga ginamit.
“Bukod dito, maganda rin po talaga yung kuwento at talagang kaabang-abang kung paano namin binigyan ng buhay ang kuwento.”
Kumusta ang bonding nila ng kanyang co-actors?
“More than half ng tapings namin, nasa camp kami. Yung location namin is bundok, wala masyadong connection, so we don't have any choice but to talk to each other,” paliwanag ni Arkin.
“It was quite an experience to cherish and I would definitely bring this along with me.
“It was quite easy to work with the cast and most especially to my director. I am enjoying it, to be honest.
TEN YEARS IN SHOWBIZ
Nag-umpisa si Arkin sa showbiz bilang member ng boyband na XLR8 noong 2010.
Lumabas siya sa TV shows na Pyra Ang Babaeng Apoy, Teen Gen (TGIS remake), Party Pilipinas, Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman, at Wattpad Presents: Avah Maldita, at sa mga pelikulang Diary ng Panget (2014), at Talk Back and You're Dead (2014).
So far, ano ang assessment niya sa kanyang showbiz career? Mahal ba talaga niya ang pag-aartista?
“It was quite an adventure to me,” sagot ni Arkin.
“After XLR8, I got launched by Mr. Johnny Manahan as part of the 2019 Star Magic Circle.
“It was quite pretty hard to get in, there were a lot of good-looking and talented guys in Star Magic. You'll see them in workshops, or inside ABS-CBN, so sometimes I get drowned especially when I was just starting out my career in ABS-CBN.
“Until one day, I attended an event, the Pure Magic blue carpet, and Mr. M was there.
“He saw me and he asked me to attend an audition. That time I didn't know what it was for. I attended the audition, and I discovered it was for the soon-to-be launched artists of Star Magic.
“I went through different series of auditions before I landed a spot. It wasn't an easy road.
“Growing up naman, wala akong parents na magsasabi sa ‘kin na magaling ako. Sa school, I was bullied, kasi patpatin ako.
“So, hindi ko in-expect na ibibigay sa akin ang blessing na 'to.
“In terms of my career, I had to wait for years and years before joining the crémé de la crémé of launched artists.
“Kasi, iba rin talaga kapag narinig nila na isa ka sa napiling i-launch ng mga big bosses and executives ng ABS-CBN. It means, they saw something in me.
“At first, hindi ko yun nakikita sa sarili ko until I met the higher ups, and sila ang nakakita ng potential sa akin to become a bankable leading man and star.
“It was a humbling experience, and now it's paying off na. I am very thankful to Ms. Mariole Alberto, Ma'm Charo Santos, Ma'm Malou Santos, Direk Olivia Lamasan, Sir Deo Edrinal, and Mr. Johnny Manahan for choosing me to be one of the elite batch of Star Magic Circle 2019."

“They are overseeing the development of my career. I feel very secured and protected.
