GMA-7 and GMA News TV’s coverage of the recent typhoons reached a total of 65.16 million viewers from October 25 to November 18, 2020.

This was based on the combined data of Nielsen Media Philippines, with official Total Audience Measurement (TAM) readings from October 25 to November 14 for Rural Philippines, and Urban Philippines overnight figures from November 15 to 18.

These figures comprised the coverage of GMA-7 from Typhoon Quinta, Rolly, and Ulysses.

The data also included figures that registered from the coverage aired in GMA-7’s news programs Unang Hirit, 24 Oras, and Saksi.

In particular, the simulcasts of 24 Oras on GMA and GMA News TV reached over 62 million viewers nationwide, urban and rural areas combined, during the said period.

GMA News TV also aired a live special coverage on November 12, aside from the channel’s Dobol B Sa News TV and the extended airing of GMA News TV’s news programs Balitanghali, Quick Response Team, and State of the Nation (SONA) with Jessica Soho.

GMA Regional TV continued its typhoon coverage and provided regular weather segments in all its local news programs GMA RTV Balitang Amianan (North Central Luzon), GMA RTV Balitang Bisdak (Central and Eastern Visayas), GMA RTV One Western Visayas (Western Visayas), GMA RTV One Mindanao (North, Central, South Central, and Southern Mindanao), and its national newscast GMA Regional TV Weekend News.

REPORTERS ON LOCATION

In a press release sent to media, GMA-7 took pride in the “buwis-buhay” reports on location of some of its reporters.

First was Jessica Soho, who flew to Cagayan to report the aftermath of Typhoon Ulysses. She also had an exclusive interview with President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo. A comprehensive report was aired on her Sunday program, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, on November 14.

GMA-7 reporters Marisol Abdurahaman and Atom Araullo also did live reports from Cagayan.
