ABS-CBN has released a line-up of its upcoming TV shows for the year 2021.
The network's 2021 campaign dubbed “Together as One sa 2021” plugging six new TV series and one entertainment program was shown during its 2020 Christmas Special that aired on December 20, 2020.
These TV shows will be shown in ABS-CBN’s new broadcast platforms: Kapamilya Channel on Cable, Kapamilya Online Live and iWantTFC online, and A2Z Channel 11 on free TV.
ABS-CBN will welcome the new year with Darna: The TV Series starring Jane de Leon.
Originally slated as Darna: The Movie, the film project was shelved owing to the pandemic.
Reports about a plan to make Darna as TV series instead began to trickle out as early as August 2020.
PEP.ph also received a feed from an insider about Darna being launched first as a TV series to be turned into a movie later.
This was confirmed when Jane renewed her contract with Star Magic on December 4, 2020.
Next is the inspirational series titled Huwag Kang Mangamba, which will be top-billed by Kadenang Ginto’s Gold Squad: Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Seth Fedelin, and Kyle Echarri.
The short teaser showed Andrea as a blind woman who does not give up on life, while Francine is a rebellious daughter looking for her mother.
The series will show how “Bro” or Jesus will affect their lives.
Huwag Kang Mangamba also features Eula Valdes, Sylvia Sanchez, Enchong Dee, Mercedes Cabral, Nonie Buencamino, Angeline Quinto, and RK Bagatsing in his comeback series with ABS-CBN after doing TV5’s I Got You.
The third offering present Yam Concepcion, Gerald Anderson, and JM de Guzman in a love triangle. The upcoming teleserye is titled Init Sa Magdamag.
The TV series will also feature Lovely Rivero, Alexa Ilacad, Kate Alejandrino, and Joey Marquez.
Erich Gonzales’s revenge-drama series La Vida Lena, which premiered on iWantTFC in November 2020, will make its TV debut in 2021.
The series is also top-billed by Carlo Aquino, Kit Thompson, and JC de Vera as Erich’s leading men.
Sofia Andres, Agot Isidro, Raymond Bagatsing, and Janice de Belen are also part of the cast.
Almost Paradise, the first American series shot entirely in the Philippines, will also make its debut in the country this 2021.
In 2019, ABS-CBN partnered with Electric Entertainment to produce the American TV series top-billed by Christian Kane.
The series also features Pinoy actors such as Art Acuna, Nonie Buencamino, Samantha Richelle, Sandino Martin, Ces Quesada, Sophia Reola, Noel Trinidad, Ketchup Eusebio, Nikki Valdez, Raymond Bagatsing, and Zsa Zsa Padilla.
An Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla teleserye is also in the works.
The series about the timeless love of two people for each other has yet to start taping.
Your Face Sounds Familiar will also return for its third season.
Ogie Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, and Sharon Cuneta will remain as judges.
Luis Manzano will now host the new season as its former host, Billy Crawford, is now with TV5.
IWANTTFC OFFERINGS
ABS-CBN’s streaming platform, iWantTFC, is also set to release original shows and acquired programs in 2021.
The original shows include Tenement 66 starring Francine Diaz and Francis Magundayao; a horror anthology titled Horrorscope; Hoy… I Love You, a rom-com series starring Roxanne Guinoo and Joross Gamboa; and Unloving U starring Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte, with Gelli de Belen and Ariel Rivera.
iWantTFC will air Jerry Yan and Shen Yue’s foreign series Count Your Lucky Stars as well as the Thai drama A Tale of a Thousand Stars.
