Dave Lamar, a former The Voice of the Philippines contestant, has auditioned in the reality show American Idol Season 14.
In his Twitter account, Dave shared a photo of him performing with a guitar in front of the familiar back drop with the American Idol logo. He put this as his caption: “Guys! I swear this isn’t PhotoShopped! tell your friends, family, dogs and cats! Hit that RT and spread the love.”
The contestant, who hails from Quezon province, was previously under Team Sarah Geronimo but he got eliminated during Season 1 of the Philippine reality singing competition.
Internationally acclaimed singer and The Voice PH coach Lea Salonga also expressed her excitement on Twitter.
She tweeted: "IKAW NA!!!!!!!!! Ipapalaganap ko ito sa buong mundo!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!"
Though his audition video hasn't been aired yet, Dave told fans about his experience through his Tumblr account (davejlamar.tumblr.com).
He revealed that he got the approval of AI judges Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez for his rendition of "Rude."
“So I guess they didn’t air me tonight.. But it’s all good.
“I was able hold this in my hand after years of seeing people storm out of the room with Golden Tickets!
“Ugh! It was such an exciting day! I got three yeses and they all loved my rendition of 'Rude.'
“And since they didn’t air it now I think I’m gonna have to make a cover of it so ya’ll can hear how I sang it.
“Anyways, on to Hollywood rounds! So thankful for this experience!
“More than the experience, I’m super thankful for this man! He’s been the one pushing me to keep reaching for my dreams! Helping me in every which way possible!
“Words can’t even explain anymore how thankful I am for him and his family, taking me in and helping out a struggling musician. Haha, we just gettin started tho!!!!!!!”
