Former ABS-CBN actress Beauty Gonzalez is confirmed to be doing a project with GMA-7.
She will be seen in an upcoming drama series on the Kapuso network, according to a report by GMANetwork.com.
Details about the teleserye, however, have yet to be revealed.
This will be Beauty’s first full-length project with GMA-7 after her stint in two TV5 programs: the weekly series I Got You from October 2020 to January 2021, and the prime-time series Paano Ang Pangako?, which aired from November 2020 to April 2021.
Prior to these two projects, Beauty top billed the ABS-CBN afternoon series Kadenang Ginto, which ran from October 2018 to January 2020.
KAPATID, KAPUSO, O KAPAMILYA?
In her recent PEP Live interview last May, Beauty was asked during her PEP Challenge: “Isa ka bang Kapatid, Kapuso, o Kapamilya?”
At the time, Beauty was still in Dumaguete City, taking a break from the hustle and bustle of show business.
Beauty quipped about the question, “Isa akong… hala, giatay, ang hirap naman nito!
“Wala pa akong mapili, e. Pwede bang isa na lang akong Pilipino?”
Does this mean that she is open to any offer from any network?
Beauty answered with a joke, “Well, isa akong probinsyana. Kung may bibili sa akin ng ticket pabalik ng Manila, pag-iisipan ko.”
She later explained, “I just want to focus with my family muna. And I always believe that if there’s something meant for you, it will happen.
“Good things happen to good people so I’ll just enjoy muna and see where life takes me.”
Beauty also reiterated that she only wants to be part of a good project.
“Simple lang naman ang prayer ko, e. Gusto ko lang na mapunta ako sa magandang proyekto, may ma-create akong friends, and people would remember it.
"I just want to create characters and make people happy about it and most importantly, I want my daughter to be proud of me.”
But Beauty said she remains thankful to ABS-CBN, the place where she started her career via Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus in 2008.
She also thanked Lauren Dyogi, then business unit head of PBB and currently the head of ABS-CBN’s TV Production department and the network’s talent arm, Star Magic.
“I’m forever thankful with ABS kasi hindi naman ako magiging Beauty Gonzalez kung hindi dahil sa kanila.
“Thank you Direk Lauren, kahit sinasabi ko na ang nanay ko ang gustong mag-artista, ako pa rin pinili mo. So, sobra akong thankful sa kanila.”
However, Beauty said that she was still open to any offer from any network.
“I’m just here, we’ll see what’s gonna happen.
“I’m open to any projects naman, kung anong ibibigay sa akin na bagay sa akin. I’ll be happy to open my doors, I am not closing my doors in any Kapatid, Kapamilya, Kapuso.
“But always remember that I’ll always choose those who choose me.”
BOTCHED GMA-7 TRANSFER
In 2018, Beauty was supposed to transfer to GMA-7 after finishing her ABS-CBN series, Pusong Ligaw.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) received a feed from an insider that Beauty was spotted in a meeting inside the premises of GMA Network Center.
She would later appear in an episode of the game show Celebrity Bluff.
However, the transfer did not push through after ABS-CBN offered her an exclusive contract and a lead role in the afternoon series Kadenang Ginto.
Beauty was also one of the celebrities present at the noise barrage in front of ABS-CBN’s ELJ Building when the renewal of the network's franchise was killed by 70 congressmen in July 2020.
Months later, Beauty decided to accept I Got You, a project with Brightlight Productions, Cornerstone TV, and TV5. She joined RK Bagatsing and Jane Oineza in the cast.
However, she maintained her position that she will “always be a Kapamilya by spirit, by heart.”
