What to expect from Walking Dead Season 5 mid-season premiere

Fox International Channels has the freshest episode of The Walking Dead this second week of February 2015, well, as fresh as a wildly successful television show about survivors living through a ravaged world filled with rotting, flesh-eating zombies can be.

The 9th episode of Season 5 is aptly titled "What Happened and What's Going On"? Considering it would be utterly gauche to reveal spoilers to the unsuspecting, one must tread carefully lest the wrath of consumers be aroused. Rapid fans would pick a violator's brain apart, and not in a good way.

The first episode of 2015 is actually the second part of the 5th season. The season started with Rick Grimes and his ragtag group dealing with devious cannibals, which they more or less weather successfully. They are dealt a crippling blow to their morale when their hope for a cure to the zombie plague was revealed to be a lie. But their recent and biggest loss was the accidental shooting of sweet Beth during a tense hostage exchange situation.

The latest episode has the survivors setting out to fulfill her last wish, in a way. Suffice it to say that the mid-season premiere revolves mainly around Tyreese (played by Chad Coleman) as he experiences hallucinations.

With seven more episodes remaining in Walking Dead Season 5, the journey of the survivors will continue as they set their sights on Washington D.C.

Are there surprises? You guessed it. Those expecting a quiet episode filled with reflection and grief about the recent death will be both right and wrong. Bits and pieces of a new mystery is being developed in the background. For the sake of drama, the timing of the first commercial break bites; same with the way the second is cut-off. There is no extra scene after the credits.

Overall, The Walking Dead's initial offering for 2015 is off to a relatively strong start.

It's a solid episode, though the recurring theme might be considered too soon for some. As an added incentive for TV viewers, Fox International chose to launch its new graphics package at the premiere of the 2015 episode that sports a new look and feel.

The newest episode aired on February 9, 2015 at 11:35 am, boasting Parallel Play which is only one hour after the initial U.S. telecast. Its Prime Time replay is at 8:55 pm, with both broadcasts having a Quick Replay directly following.
