Kaya nakakaproud kasi ito iyong first project niya and ganoon kalupit iyong role na ginampanan niya, which is nagawa naman niya nang magaling."

Nagbabagang Luha leading man Rayver Cruz is stepping up to defend his newbie co-star Claire Castro.

Over the past few weeks, netizens have been criticizing Claire’s acting in the series, particularly her confrontation scene with Myrtle Sarrosa.

When PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Rayver to comment on the issue during his September PEP Exclusives interview, he first asked, “Ano bang mga sinasabi nila?”

PEP.ph then told him about the comments on Claire and Myrtle’s “malamyang sampalan.”

In response, he defended Claire from her critics.

Rayver also added that Claire’s role, which she described as "nightmare maging kapatid" in a separate interview, is not easy to portray, especially for a beginner.

Kaya nakakaproud kasi ito iyong first project niya and ganoon kalupit iyong role na ginampanan niya, which is nagawa naman niya nang magaling.

“So, di ba, all love na lang tayo. And hindi naman natin maiwasan iyon, e. Kahit sa amin, may bashers talaga. Pero it’s okay, at least nanonood sila.”

Nagbabagang Luha, which is also top-billed by Glaiza de Castro, is a remake of a 1988 film with Glaiza portraying Lorna Tolentino’s role as Maita, Rayver breathing life to Gabby Concepcion’s role as Alex, and Claire giving a new flavor to Alice Dixson’s character as Claire.

Claire is the daughter of former couple and T.G.I.S. stars Raven Villanueva and Diego Castro.

RAYVER RECALLS HIS NEWBIE DAYS

Even Rayver can attest to the challenges Claire is going through as a beginner because he experienced it himself when he was still starting in showbiz.

He said, “Ganoon kasi talaga, siyempre gradually naman iyan, e.

This is the reason why he was impressed with Claire, who managed to tackle such a heavy role in Nagbabagang Luha despite it being her first teleserye.

“So for me, solid iyon. Kasi naalala ko noong first time kong nag-soap, hindi ako maka-acting, hindi ako makaarte kasi parang, ‘Hala, ano ito?’"

While the name of the project escapes Rayver, he still recalls how he felt on the set of that project that aired at least a few years before he starred in the 1999 GMA-7 sitcom Kiss Muna.

So normal.”

Nagbabagang Luha is down to its last two weeks on GMA-7’s Afternoon Prime block.
