It turns out John Lloyd Cruz is not the only former Kapamilya starring in his sitcom, Happy Together.
Miles Ocampo and Jayson Gainza, who both started their careers with ABS-CBN and have previously worked with sitcom director Edgar "Bobot" Mortiz, are also joining the show.
Based on cast member Carmi Martin's Instagram post yesterday, November 9, 2021, the staff and stars of Happy Together already had their story conference.
She wrote in the caption (published as is), "Happy to belong to a new sitcom entitled “Happy together “ with John Lloyd cruz @johnlloydcruz83 @milesocampo @janusdelprado and others. Coming soon on Kapuso network."
Both Miles and Jayson are part of Direk Bobot's last show, Sunday Kada, with TV5 and Brightlight Productions. The show is expected to air for another season after it went through a season break in January, but it no longer pushed through.
Meanwhile, according to Jayson's Instagram account, he is still doing a show with ABS-CBN, a youth-oriented series starring Vivoree Esclito, Kaori Oinuma, and JC Alcantara.
Janus del Prado was also tagged by Carmi in her post. His last show with GMA-7 was the 2004 prime-time series Hanggang Kailan.
Bobot's son Badjie Mortiz as well as Kapuso artists Ashley Rivera and Jenzel Angeles are also part of the cast.
Bobot also brought along him some of the staff of ABS-CBN's comedy unit including headwriter Ricky Victoria, writer Sherwin Buenvenida, and Bobot's daughter and producer Camille Mortiz.
Another son of Bobot, Frasco Mortiz, is also part of the project. He has been directing GMA-7 shows, such as Wowowin and Bubble Gang, over the past few months.
It can be noticed that John Lloyd's reported leading lady, Andrea Torres, was not in the Zoom press conference.
It has yet to be announced, however, if she is still John Lloyd's leading lady or another actress was chosen for the part.
John Lloyd signed a contract with GMA-7 on November 9, at EDSA Shangri-La hotel.
Present during the contract signing were GMA Films president and programming consultant to the GMA chairman Annette Gozon-Valdes and First Vice President for Program Management Jose Mari Abacan.
Senior Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth G. Rasonable and First VP for Drama Redgie A. Magno were also present to welcome John Lloyd.
Happy Together is under the unit of Abacan, who handles blocktimer programs, such as Eat Bulaga! and Daddy's Gurl.
GMA-7 has yet to announce when Happy Together will start its taping and airing.
