In 2021, GMA-7 started uploading past episodes of the youth-oriented show, Click, which premiered in 1999 and was shown last in 2004.

The teen-oriented show became the launchpad of some of the Kapuso network’s up-and-coming teen stars at the time.

The first batch, which ran from December 1999 to March 2002, saw the beginnings of Alessandra de Rossi, Roxanne Barcelo, and James Blanco, now household names in teleseryes and movies.

In March 2002, with some of the first batch members poised to take on more mature and dramatic roles, GMA-7 introduced fresh faces while retaining a few familiar names to form Click's second batch.

Joining the cast were commercial models, children of veteran actors, and new discoveries who, just like their predecessors, were to be groomed as Kapuso prime stars.

The second batch proved to be a success as Click reached higher ratings, toppling its competition.

Far bigger success awaited most of its stars after their stints in the show.

They were given big breaks in movies and television to become famous stars, and have remained active in showbiz, albeit in the rival network, ABS-CBN.

Other members of the Click barkada decided to leave show business and focus on their personal lives.

In December 2021, GMA-7 started uploading the second-batch episodes of Click, which aired from March 2002 to June 2003.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) takes a look at the lives now of the 12 stars of Click batch two, 20 years after their debut in the show.

ALESSANDRA DE ROSSI

Character: Vivian “Ian” Rufino

Alessandra first joined Click in the first batch’s third season in July 2000 and had four love-team partners: Miko Sotto, Biboy Ramirez, Jet Alcantara, and Polo Ravales.

Alessandra—who is also known by her nickname Alex—was retained in the second batch when most of the cast members had left the show. This time, she was looked up to as the “ate” of the group. One of her main conflicts was when she fell in love with JB (Sherwin Ordonez) while still in a relationship with Joseph (Polo Ravales).

After Alex graduated from the show in 2003, she started doing independent films such as Mga Munting Tinig and Homecoming. On television, Alex was assigned kontrabida roles in GMA-7 shows. One of her most notable kontrabida roles was in the 2005 version of Darna, where Alex portrayed Valentina to Angel Locsin's Darna.

Also in 2005, Alex top-billed the internationally acclaimed Singaporean horror movie The Maid. The movie won the European Fantastic Film Festival Federation (EFFFF) Asian Film Award at the 10th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan).

Through the years, Alex continued portraying kontrabida roles in GMA-7 and ABS-CBN teleseryes.

In 2017, Alex top-billed the independent movie Kita Kita with Empoy Marquez. The film received favorable reviews and did well in the box office with a total worldwide gross of PHP320 million.

This was also the time when Alex reinvented her career, saying no to kontrabida roles after doing it on TV for more than 10 years.

Recently, Alex has ventured into directing through the Netflix movie My Amanda, where she also played the lead role with Piolo Pascual.

Alex lives alone in her own home in Quezon City, for which, she told PEP.ph in an interview, she paid in full when she was in her early 30s.

Being free of financial obligations has allowed Alex to choose her projects.

She is reported to be in a special relationship with director Rico Gutierrez, but both have yet to admit the real score between them.

Alex has recently won the Best Actress award in the 44th Gawad Urian and the 69th FAMAS Awards for the movie Watch List.

SHERWIN ORDONEZ

Character: Jose Basilio “JB” Montelibano

Sherwin did his acting debut in the fantasy series Pintados. He was also a member of the dance group Abztract dancers.

Prior to joining the show's second batch, Sherwin entered the third season of Click in July 2000 as JB and was paired with Maybelyn dela Cruz, who played Rosario.

In the middle of the story, however, Sherwin was paired with Trina Zuniga, who played Melai. Their love team was well-received by Click fans until Trina’s character was killed when she transferred to ABS-CBN.

When the second batch started, JB was still in a relationship with Rosario, who was studying in London. He would later become involved with Ian (Alessandra de Rossi) until they all left the show in 2003 to make way for the third batch.

Richard and Chynna’s tandem in Click was so well-received by the fans, that there came a time when they were pulled out of the show in 2003 to avoid overexposure.

All at the same time, they were doing the movies Kuya and Mano Po 2, starring in the prime-time soap opera Habang Kapiling Ka, and starting the Sunday youth-oriented show Love to Love.

Richard and Chynna’s love team ended when Richard got his big break on TV via the fantasy series Mulawin, where he was paired with Angel Locsin, who was his twin sister in Click.

Mulawin received high ratings, and the Angel-Richard love team became phenomenal, gaining a lot of fans and projects.

Richard eventually went solo, and was paired with different leading ladies in GMA-7. Among them were Heart Evangelista, Rhian Ramos, Michelle Madrigal, Maxene Magalona, Carla Abellana, and his would-be girlfriend and wife, Sarah Lahbati.

In 2013, Richard became a freelancer after his contract with GMA ended.

Since 2020, he has been a part of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, where he plays kontrabida to Coco Martin.

The series catapulted them as big stars of the Kapuso network at that time.
