Louise delos Reyes and Alden Richards were once a love team in GMA-7.
Their tandem was then known as DenLou.
And though they had brought kilig to many Kapuso viewers at the time, the two actually had an "away-bati" relationship off-cam.
Louise reveals this in her PEP Spotlight guest appearance on February 2, 2022.
She says of their time together in the 2012 series One True Love, where they played star-crossed lovers, "Actually, maraming times diyan na magkaaway kami ni Alden.
“Kasi iyong turingan namin ni Alden, he knows me too well, I know him too well.
“So kapag may mga bagay na hindi kami nagpansinan, parang alam na namin sa isa’t isa na ito iyong mga time na, ‘Ayaw niya akong kausapin.’”
REMEMBERING MOMENTS FROM ONE TRUE LOVE
DenLou top-billed four shows: Alakdana (2011), My Beloved (2012), One True Love (2012), and Mundo Mo’y Akin (2013).
One of their most top-rating shows was One True Love, and fans fell in love with the series because of Alden and Louise’s oozing chemistry.
But as Louise recalls, there were many times that she and Alden were not on good terms, and would make amends based on the scenes from One True Love.
One scene featured their characters on a boat ride.
“So iyong boat, siyempre kaming dalawa lang iyong nandoon, so napilitan kaming mag-usap. ‘Tapos naging okay na kami after noon.”
Most of the time, Louise and Alden were okay and even treated each other as best friends.
She remarks, “Parang sweet na ulit kami and very best friend talaga iyong turingan.”
But as the show was coming to an end, they got on each other’s nerves again, for a reason Louise cannot remember.
It was around the time that Louise's character was battling cancer.
She narrates, “’Tapos nag-away ulit kami noong mga bandang may cancer na ako non, ‘tapos may eksena kami na papasok siya sa pintuan tapos makikita niyang parang may opera ako.
“Heavy scene din siya so hindi kami nag-rehearse kasi parehong kaming parang in the zone na, okay na, huwag na tayong mag-rehearse."
Eventually, their reconciliation would help pull off one important scene.
The interaction did not only help the effectiveness of the scene but also their personal relationship.
Louise continues, “’Tapos after noon, nag-hug lang kami na parang, ‘I miss you, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.’
“’Tapos na-very good naman kami doon sa eksena na iyon. Pero sobrang real ng emotions na iyon na kahit iyong mga cameramen namin, nanginginig kasi naiiyak din sila.”
Looking back at away-bati relationship with alden
Louise believes that the away-bati relationship she had with Alden was something that all love teams go through.
She says, “Marami kaming away ni Alden noon kasi sobrang bata rin namin. And alam mo naman, kapag love team, parang hindi naman maiiwasan na magkakaasaran kayo and sobrang pagod din namin noon.
“At saka kapag nag-aaway kami, hindi naman kami iyong parang we talk shit with each other. Nagkakatampuhan.
“Hindi ko lang siya binibigyan ng dinner, hindi ko lang siya binebeso. Or siya, hindi niya ako itu-throw lines or hindi niya ibibigay iyong script ko.
“Mga petty na hindi bababa ng sasakyan pero gets namin iyong isa’t isa.”
Louise and Alden’s love team ended when GMA-7 decided to give them solo projects in 2014. But they were still able to work together one last time the following year, in an episode of Karelasyon.
Alden remains to be a talent of GMA-7, while Louise has been with VIVA Artists Agency since 2017.
