Rhian Ramos just celebrated 16 years in the industry this May 2022.
This also means that she has been a Kapuso for 16 years now.
She started in 2006 via the prime-time series Captain Barbell as the leading lady of Richard Gutierrez. Back then, she used the screen name Rhian Denise Ramos.
During her PEP Live interview on May 31, 2022, Rhian revealed that she is proud to say she has remained loyal to her home network.
She said, “Ako, in that entire 16-year period, never ko naisip na umalis or lumipat. Kasi I think I entered GMA, I was 15, so I was so young.
“That’s why it really does feel like a family to me. Kasi a lot of the executives and a lot of the people I met there, I met when I was so young, and they would help me and guide me and understand me.”
Rhian believes that open communication with the bosses is key to having a harmonious relationship with her mother network.
She continued, “As much as possible, I just try to be honest na kapag ito yung nararamdaman ko, kunyari, if I’m tired, sinasabi ko lang na, ‘Ah, pagod po ako.’
“I just have faith na even if negosyo ito, may makakaintindi sa akin dahil mga tao naman tayong lahat.
"And instead of saying, ‘Ay, pagod na ako, quit na ako,’ parang, ‘Pagod po ako, mag-iipon lang ako ng emotions ulit para sa next show para galingan ulit.’
“Nagkakaintindihan naman basta may maayos na usapan.”
Rhian’s current project with GMA-7, Artikulo 247, is down to its last two days on GMA Afternoon Prime.
RHIAN'S UPS AND DOWNS
It was not exactly a smooth-sailing for Rhian, whose career has been through a lot of ups and downs.
Did she ever think of quitting show business and just leading a quiet life?
Rhian admitted, “Siguro there were times like that, but I wouldn’t say quit kasi ayoko talaga magsalita nang tapos talaga.
“I always want to leave the possibility na this is how I feel now, pero bukas, what if hindi ito yung feeling ko?
"So I would always take mga mini-breaks na parang ganito, I like to travel when I can.”
Rhian is currently on vacation in Europe, which was also where she was when this interview was held.
She continued, “Kasi dito, parang noong nag-six months ako sa New York, walang pumapansin sa akin doon. Everyone treats you like a normal person, actually even less kasi parang ako yung tao doon sa gilid na mas mabagal maglakad kaya sa kanila.
“Mas hindi ko alam saan ako pupunta or anong ginagawa ko. So may factor pa sila na naiirita sila sa iyo, but it’s nice, it’s worth it."
The anonymity and independence she experiences abroad also helps her to reframe how she sees her life in showbiz.
She explained, “It helps you appreciate all the different times of your life, kasi mas na-a-appreciate ko yung kapag nandiyan ako, and I have my team helping me and my fans that make me feel so special.
“Kasi I don’t want to take that for granted and ayokong maging masyadong entitled.
"So it’s nice also to leave and to teach myself something from the real world.”
Rhian also makes sure she remains thankful for everything that is happening to her career.
“I think a really big deal is just gratitude. Kasi yung nabanggit mo nga, merong mga ups, merong mga downs, pero kahit doon sa mga downs, parang you stay grateful.
“At saka you learn from every experience, whatever you can learn from it, you have to take whatever you can take from it.
"Kasi kahit malungkot siya na time, kung doon ka maraming natutunan, you’ll only get better and better.”
