Willie Revillame’s Wowowin is set to return to television after an eight-month hiatus.

On Friday, July 15, Willie had a contract-signing with the newly installed Advanced Media Broadcasting Systems (AMBS) to air Wowowin.

Willie will also be part of the board, headed by the AMBS president Maribeth Tolentino, that formulates the programming grid of the network.

After his contract-signing and announcement, the TV host met the press about his plans for AMBS and Wowowin.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked if he has plans to bring back Wowowin to noontime slot.

He answered, “Right now, inaayos pa namin ni Ms. Beth. Pinag-aaralan namin ano yung mas magiging maganda sa noontime or prime time.”

Willie said the specifics of the network's programs, including the timeslots, have yet to be worked out by the board.

He explained the reason, “To be honest with you, wala pa kaming mga artista, kinakausap pa lang.

"At saka hindi naman ito ganun kadali, yung mga inabot ng ibang istasyon na mga years—50 years, 70 years—hindi naman puwedeng ganun-ganun, just like that.

“So yung noontime, inaaral pa namin kung sinong ilalagay—ako ba or sa prime time ba ako or magbubuo ba ng bagong noontime.”

Wowowin first aired in 2005 as Wowowee in the noontime slot of ABS-CBN until 2010.

When the game show transferred to TV5, it was renamed Wowowin and shown in the prime-time slot until 2013, when Willie decided to bring it back to noontime.

When Wowowin moved to GMA-7 in 2015, it aired in the afternoon slot until its last episode in February 2022.

At AMBS, the decisions regarding the programming grid remain up in the air.

To follow naman yung ibang programa.”

Speaking from experience, Willie has known only too well that competing in the noontime slot would be a tough call.

“Mahirap talagang makipag-compete sa mga noontime show, pinagdaanan ko lahat iyan.

“Sino ilalagay mong host, sinong artista, anong concept. Kailangan mo ng writers, pero lahat ng ito, hopefully, awa ng Panginoong Diyos, e, mai-aayos natin.”

CONCEPTUALING AMBS SHOWS

For now, Willie and Beth Tolentino have been putting their heads together to conceptualize shows for AMBS.

Joining them in creating shows is Camille Villar, the daughter of Manny Villar who owns AMBS.

Willie said, “Kasi may mga naiisip kami na bago mag-noontime, may early show para sa mga momshies, mga concept na ganun. They listen to me or they think.

“May mga artista kaming nakakausap na, pero di pa namin puwedeng i-reveal iyan kasi hindi pa naman sarado lahat iyan.

“Actually, to be honest with you, ako yung gumagawa ng programming, kami ni Ms. Beth.

“Ipapa-approve lang namin sa aming chairman, sasabihin naman ng chairman, ‘Kayo nakakaalam niyan, e.’

“Inaayos naming mabuti, from early morning up to the midnight show, so inaaral talaga iyan.”
