In the tradition of showcasing hit Korean telenovelas on Philippine television, GMA Network airs The Legend, the story of a man destined to restore peace in the kingdom of Goguryeo.
The Legend comes after the huge success of Korean dramas Jewel in the Palace and Jumong. Once again the loyal supporters of Koreanovelas in the country will be riveted by The Legend's poignant storyline, heroic battle scenes, dramatic visual effects and beautiful cast. The Legend is a saga chronicling a prophecy that the arrival of a king is destined to save humanity.
This drama series was produced in Korea at an approximate cost of 45 billion won or P1.9 billion.
The Legend stars Korean actor Bae Yong Joon in the title role of Dam-Deok, the 19th king of Goguryeo. He is a descendant of the mythical king Jumong. Under his leadership, he made Goguryeo as the most powerful nation in East Asia with the help of the four Gods: Cheong-ryong (Blue Dragon), Baek-ho (White Tiger), Joo-jak (Phoenix) and Hyeon-mu (Turtle).
Conflict arises when Hwan-Woong, the son of heaven, comes down on earth to rule the Bear Tribe. Ga-Jin, the fire goddess and leader of the differing Tiger Tribe, is infuriated at Hwan-Woong for controlling the land. War erupts and the Four Gods withdraw from society, secluding themselves.
According to a prophecy, a king shall be born to save the warring regions and put an end to the constant battles. The Four Gods shall awaken to find their rightful master and help him redeem their once peaceful and bountiful land.
How will Dam-Deok accept his destiny? What is the connection of the prophecy to Jumong? What conflicts will Dam-Deok face as he journeys to fulfill the prophecy?
The Legend's grand unfolding will start weeknights beginning March 10 (Monday) on GMA-7's Telebabad block.
