Lea Salonga reveals younger age bracket for The Voice Kids Philippines Season 2

Lea Salonga differentiates between the regular edition of The Voice PH and the kids' edition: “It’s very different. I have to employ a much softer touch with children because there are real feelings and the feelings are on the surface. Hindi yung parang matanda na they can hide or they can pretend being gracious.”

Lea Salonga can’t wait to see what surprises are in store for the second season of The Voice Kids Philippines (TVK2).

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), the Broadway star/The Voice coach confirmed that they will start taping the show this weekend.

“Yeah, this coming weekend, and I think it starts airing in june pa, matagal pa,” she cheerfully began.

Given that The Voice of The Philippines Season 2 just ended last March, Lea admitted that mentoring kids is quite a challenge for her.

“It’s very different. I have to employ a much softer touch with children because there are real feelings and the feelings are on the surface.

“Hindi yung parang matanda na they can hide or they can pretend being gracious.”

This time around, Lea said that she has to be careful in turning down kids during the blind auditions.

She further explained: “Here, there’s gonna be overflowing of tears everytime somebody has to say goodbye.

“And if sometimes they’re one of the people who stay, they end up crying for the people who leave.

“So, it can be difficult but we just have to be very understanding and very encouraging and empathetic with the young ones.”

Without giving too many details, Lea revealed that one of the changes this season involves having a younger age bracket for the auditionees.

“Our age range went down. Hindi na 8 to 14 years old, it’s now 7 to 13.

“We’re gonna have younger children auditioning for us this week.

“I’ve no idea what’s going to happen. I’m a little afraid but every excited,” she said with a smile.

The first season of The Voice Kids Philippines aired from May to July of 2014 with Lyca Gairanod of Team Sarah emerging as the winner.
