From singing and hosting, Yeng Constantino wants to do more acting jobs.
“I wanna do acting na rin on TV, hindi lang sa indie. Open na ako, at least, bago magka-baby,” said ABS-CBN's Pop Rock Princess in a short interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) after her stint at the #ChooseYourJoy concert last Sunday, October 4.
She became more inspired to act after she watched the highly recommended historical film Heneral Luna.
“Sobrang naging fan lang ako ngayon ng mga films. Recently, pinanood ko 'yong Heneral Luna, sobra akong na-move.
“Kaya gusto ko parang... Ang ganda ng epekto no'n, na parang naapektuhan mo 'yong viewers in that way, sa acting naman.
"Kakaibang art din siya na I'm willing to work on,” the 26-year-old singer pointed out.
Yeng said there have been offers for her to do acting projects. However, since she's technically a newbie in this field, she admitted that her camp is still a bit picky.
"Maingat din kasi kami pumili ng istorya at karakter. Kasi hindi naman lahat bagay sa akin so, we're just being careful,” explained Yeng.
Given a choice, Yeng would want to do a romantic-comedy project.
"Sobrang cute no'n,” she smiled.
On the other hand, if she wants to follow her dad's advice, Yeng would choose to play serious roles.
She told PEP, “Para sa tatay ko, I would love to be in a movie na very serious or ma-cha-challenge talaga ang acting skill ko kasi 'yong talaga ang gusto ng tatay ko.
Then, she recalled her dad's comment on her film debut titled Shift.
Yeng laughed, “Sabi niya sa akin, 'Huwag 'yon. Kung mag-a-acting ka, kailangan pang-award-winning ha. Pressure! Sana lang proud siya doon.
“Pero noong nakita niya kasi ang Shift sabi niya sa akin, 'Anak, alam mo, parang di ka um-acting. Parang ikaw lang din 'yon.'
“Hindi ko alam kung matutuwa ako, Itay.”
Shift was one of the entries in Cinema One Originals Festival in 2013.
It bagged the Best Picture award at the 9th Osaka Film Festival in Osaka, Japan in 2014.
