Pinay mom Neneth Lyons eliminated from X Factor UK Season 12; laments the way her song was edited on the show

Simon Cowell on Neneth Lyons' performance for the Six-Chair Challenge on the X Factor UK: "I thought that this was going to be a big moment, it wasn’t."

Filipina mom Neneth Lyons fails to secure a spot in The X Factor UK Season 12.

The 37-year-old mom belted out Whitney Houston’s “One Moment In Time” during the October 18 episode featuring the Six-Chair Challenge of the British talent competition.

However, she was unable to impress her mentor Simon Cowell, who was in charge of the Over 25s category.

In a recorded video interview, Neneth explained why this is one of her biggest performances. “My family and my singing [are] everything.

The aspiring singer continued, “This six chair challenge is a massive thing, but this is what I want to do. My performance is for my family. I am not going to stop and I am not going to let it go. I will fight to get that chair.”

Simon’s fellow mentors and judges Rita Ora, Cheryl Fernandez-versino, and Nick Grimshaw also felt that this wasn’t Neneth’s best performance.

Rita observed, “That song is so big, but I think you sang your soul out.”

Cheryl was more frank with her comment and told Neneth that her performance didn’t have a big impact on her. She told the singer, “I think that you did deliver with everything you have considering that it’s such a big song choice. But unfortunately, it didn’t have the impact is should have had on an audience like this, I’m sorry.”

In the end, Simon gave the bad news and said he won’t give her a seat in the Over 25s category.

Simon told Neneth, “I thought that this was going to be a big moment, it wasn’t. I’m really sorry to say this to you sweetheart, I’m not gonna give you a chair.”

The aspiring singer revealed that she was schedule to perform the night before her performance was recorded.

However, her audition performance for the Six-Chair Challenge was pushed back the next day because the recording for the talent show was running behind schedule.

Neneth said that they arrived home around 4:30 a.m. but they had to leave around 9 a.m. for the 12:30 p.m. call time. The aspiring singer admitted that she was upset with the results but assures that she will continue singing after the show.

Here is her full explanation (published as is): “Hi everyone, obviously upset and heartbroken with the outcome, but was an amazing experience and very grateful to X Factor for the opportunity. I did promise I would explain what happened once 6 chairs had been aired, so here you go.

“My solo performance at boot camp didn't air probably due to the fact I didn't make it to judges’ houses. I do hope I can get a copy of it one day, as it really did show off my full vocal range and I'm sure you would have loved it.

“With regards to the 6 chairs we arrived at 12:30 lunchtime for an evening performance, but unfortunately things were running behind schedule and they only managed to hear 3 contestants before sending everyone home at 1:30am to be continued the next day.

"We got home at about 430am and had to leave the following morning at 9am for a 1230 call time. I was on 3rd from last, there were another 2 contestants before me that they didn't show on the TV episode and there was a long break just before my performance.

"My song at 6 chairs was One Moment In Time and this was suggested by the producers & music director.

"It's hard to hear the judges talk about wrong song choices when the music director advises you to sing that song and tells you it's brilliant and very powerful during rehearsals.

"I do feel the way the song has been edited on the TV down to 20 seconds loses the impact of the song as it is a song that builds from the start and gradually gets bigger. It looked and it sounded too safe. I will try and upload a copy of me singing the full song.

“I made a lot of friends during the show and it has definitely re-ignited my passion for singing. Can't wait to continue performing and hopefully something big is waiting round the corner.

“Thanks for all your kind words and support. I love you all xxx”
