Ruru Madrid paired with Barbie Forteza in Dangwa; takes temporary break from GabRu love team with Gabbi Garcia

Ruru Madrid will be paired with Barbie Forteza in an episode of Dangwa (GMA-7's new show featuring Janine Gutierrez). He also said that GabRu, his team-up with screen partner Gabbi Garcia will temporarily be on a break.

GMA-7 teen actor Ruru Madrid continues to get good breaks in show business.

Right after topbilling the teleserye Let The Love Begin withGabbi Garcia, he recently joined the cast of the longest-running Kapuso afternoon show to date, The Half Sisters.

The first time Ruru heard the news that he will join the soap, he felt the timing was perfect since the Christmas season is fast approaching.

He jokingly shared, “Siyempre po [masaya].

In the teleserye, he plays Joaquin, the cousin of Bradley (Andre Paras). He falls in love with Diana (Barbie Forteza), who happens to be Bradley’s girlfriend.

Initially, Ruru's character, which he describes as “presko, pero may puso,” seemed to be an antagonist in the story.

But he clarified that his manager, director Maryo J. Delos Reyes, didn’t want the character to be a villain in the story.

The teen actor also revealed to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media reporters during the set visit of The Half Sisters in Commonwealth, Quezon City that Direk Maryo wants to handle his next TV project.

WITH BARBIE FORTEZA IN DANGWA. Aside from working with Barbie in The Half Sisters, the two will also be paired in an episode of Dangwa, which will air weekday mornings starting October 26.

When asked if the two projects will overlap, Ruru clarified that they have already finished taping for Dangwa. He will be featured on the show for one week, since the show’s concept is to feature different love stories every week that are based on real life events. Janine plays as a matchmaker for couples by giving flowers.

In fact, Ruru revealed that their story might be the one that will air on the pilot week.

“Sobrang cute ng story. Rakista ako, tapos si Barbie [Forteza] probinsyana," he said about their characters.

“And then si Barbie naman, wala siyang titirhan so kailangan niya ng titirhan.

He added, “Astig kasi everytime, di ba magkasama kami sa condo?

“[Then,] kapag may pupuntang family niya, magpapanggap akong bading.

“May scene ako do’n na kunyari sasali ako sa Miss Gay, talagang minake-up-an ako nang pambabae.”

According to Ruru, the story portrayed onscreen is based on the love story of the show’s production manager.

He recalled that he worked with Barbie in his first teleserye, Paroa: Ang Kuwento ni Mariposa (2012). Ruru figured in a love triangle with Barbie and Derrick Monasterio.

NO MORE TEAM-UP WITH GABBI? Since Ruru is paired with Barbie, does this mean that his team-up with Gabbi Garcia is over?

Gabbi and Ruru’s love team was previously featured in the GMA-7 TV shows My Destiny, Seasons of Love, InstaDAD, and Let The Love Begin.

However, Ruru revealed that even though they are no longer working with each other, he still bonds and goes out with Gabbi.

But he clarified that he and Gabbi are just friends and there is no romantic relationship between the two of them.
