Noontime shows Eat Bulaga and It’s Showtime celebrated Halloween last Saturday, October 31, with their own gimmicks.
BAHAY NI LOLA. Eat Bulaga gave kilig to viewers with plenty of sweet moments of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (a.k.a. Yaya Dub) in the “Kalyserye” segment.
Alden and Yaya Dub went inside the Bahay ni Lola to help the De Explorer sisters--Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola), Lola Tinidora (Paolo Ballesteros) and Lola Tidora (Jose Manalo)--look for a jewelry box.
Inside grandmother's house, the De Explorers, Yaya Dub and Alden experienced "supernatural events" as they looked for the box. They even heard voices inside but went on searching.
Luckily, Alden found the jewelry box containing a ring.
He then knelt in front of Yaya Dub and handed the ring to her.
As part of its Halloween celebration, the Eat Bulaga hosts wore various costumes. However, the Muslim costume of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon drew flak from the ARMM region.
BACK TO BACK FINALS. On the other hand, It’s Showtime celebrated its Halloween special by having two grand finals last Saturday.
The first grand finals was the “That’s My Tomboy” segment where finalist Kit Cunanan was hailed as winner and received P300,000.
Mary Christine Nishie placed as first-runner up while Julianne Tuason placed second runner-up in the competition.
The group “Names Going Wild” from Navotas City also won as the champion in the grand finals of the show’s “Halo-Halloween” segment and received P 100,000 because of their unique horror-themed performance.
It’s Showtime hosts also wore their best Halloween costumes. Vice Ganda dressed up as the popular doll Annabelle from the movie of the same title.
