Both primetime shows Pangako Sa 'Yo and Beautiful Strangers are dealing with family issues and politics but in different ways.
PANGAKO SA 'YO. In ABS-CBN's Pangako Sa 'Yo, the lives of the Buenavistas changed drastically as "batas ng api" or the planned revenge of Amor has started to unfold.
Eduardo (Ian Veneracion) and Claudia (Angelica Panganiban) were at a Miting de Avance when they became involved in a public scandal.
A whistleblower accused Eduardo (a candidate running for the position of governor) of being involved in illegal activities and being a jueteng lord.
On national television, the witness implicated Eduardo and Claudia of being in the payroll of former President Panaligan (aka Mr. P) who is involved with smuggling, prostitution, and illegal gambling.
Claudia told the crowd at the Miting de Avance: "Pasensiya na po kayo pero sinisaraan lang kami ng kalaban."
A riot breaks out and people start throwing things at the Buenavista family.
Amor (Jodi Sta. Maria) sees her plans falling into place and she says about her former boyfriend Eduardo, "Pinatawad ko na siya pero niloko niya ako uli. Panahon na para matikman nila ang batas ng isang api. "

BEAUTIFUL STRANGERS. In GMA-7's Beautiful Strangers, one of the highlights of the episode was the party attended by aspiring politician Alejandra (Dina Bonnevie).
In the recap aired at the start of Beautiful Strangers, it was shown that Kristine (Heart Evangelista) suggested that she and Noel (Rocco Nacino) should break up already.
"Pareho lang tayong may mga sakripisyo, siguro dapat tapusin na natin ito."
Joyce (Lovi Poe) told her husband Lawrence (Benjamin Alves) that she cannot live in the same house with her father-in-law Ronaldo (Christopher de Leon).
A party was held and Joyce came up with a plan to humiliate her mother-in-law Alejandra.
They then pretended to fight and Alejandra insulted Kristine by saying, "I know a desperate loser when I see one."
Alejandra pointed out, "Masama rin bang magalit? Trabaho ang nawala sa iyo pero buhay namin ang sinira mo."
She turned around and did not fight with Kristine since she believed, "Hindi ako mag-aaksaya ng panahon sa isang tao na hindi naman isusulat ang pangalan ko sa balota."
Joyce suddenly stepped in and slapped Kristine while guards arrived to usher Kristine out of the venue.
