ABS-CBN debuted a romantic comedy series on its PrimeTanghali noontime block titled Be My Lady last Monday, January 18.

Real-life couple Erich Gonzales and Daniel Matsunaga topbill this Kapamilya drama series directed by Theodor Boborol. The show replaced Ningning that was topbilled by child star Jana Agoncillo.

RECAP. The pilot episode of Be My Lady focused on the childhood of Pina (played by Erich Gonzales). The scene opened with Pina's mother Marcy (played by Janice de Belen) asking her to buy ingredients for her bulalo. Her father Emil (played by Al Tantay) finally got his share of land that he inherited from his parents. Emil shared the good news to his family and his father-in-law.

Their family was doing well with their farm until Marcy's father suffered a stroke. They needed a big amount of money so he could get an operation in Manila.

Emil came home with a check for P1 million pesos but he didn't tell his wife how he got the money for the operation.

Eventually, Marcy found out that he husband took on a property loan so that her father will get his operation. At the end of the show, Pina promised to her grandfather that she will help take care of him.


MEGA MANILA RATINGS.
ABS-CBN's Be My Lady and GMA-7's drama-comedy series Princess in the Palace starring Ryzza Mae Dizon, Eula Valdez, and Aiza Seguerra had a tight battle in Mega Manila TV ratings.

Based on the data provided by AGB Nielsen, Be My Lady and Princess in the Palace only had a .3 difference in TV ratings. Princess in the Palace still had the upper hand after scoring 11.9% in Mega Manila. Be My Lady came close with 11.3% during its pilot episode.

NATIONWIDE RATINGS. However, Be My Lady had a strong pilot episode based on nationwide TV ratings by Kantar/TNS Media. The Erich Gonzales-Daniel Matsunaga starrer garnered 18.7%, which is twice that of Princess in the Palace's 8.2% national rating.
