Regine Velasquez to star in teleserye anew; will be joined by Starstruck 6 runners-up

Regine Velasquez is back on doing TV dramas via the romantic-comedy Poor Señorita. In this upcoming teleserye directed by Dominic Zapata, she will be joined by Starstruck 6 runners-up Ayra Mariano and Elyson De Dios (right frame).

Regine Velasquez will star in GMA-7s upcoming romantic-comedy series titled Poor Señorita.

An Instagram post from Regine's fans club called Regine Velasquez Friends indicated that Asia's Songbird will be joined by veteran actress Snooky Serna and Queen of Soul Jaya.

Aside from Snooky and Jaya, Regine will also be joined by Starstruck 6 runners-up Ayra Mariano and Elyson de Dios. This Kapuso program will serve as the teleserye debut of Ayra and Elyson after being part of the artista search.

No details have been divulged about the plot but this new series will be directed by Dominic Zapata, whose last show was the remake of MariMar starring Megan Young.

Also included in Poor Señorita are Sheena Halili, Jillian Ward, Miggs Cuaderno, Zymic Jaranilla, and Ervic Vijandre.

This new drama series will mark Regine's return to doing teleseryes, since her last series was I Heart You Pare which she did way back in 2011.

Asia's Songbird was replaced by Iza Calzado towards the end of the series due to her pregnancy.

When Regine returned after giving birth, she concentrated on hosting for programs such as the cooking show Sarap Diva and Sunday noontime shows Party Pilipinas and Sunday All Stars.

In 2015, Regine was supposed to do her teleserye comeback via the remake of Let The Love Begin, wherein she was supposed to play the mother of Ruru Madrid's character.

However, she turned it down to focus more on her family. The role then went to Ai-Ai delas Alas.
