Last Monday, February 1, Cristine Reyes marked her return on TV drama via the afternoon teleserye Tubig At Langis.
The show also served as her reunion with former onscreen partner Zanjoe Marudo, whom she had worked with in the late-night adult-themed teleserye Precious Hearts Romances presents Kristine and the comedy-movie Bromance.
The pilot episode during the college years of the family-oriented Irene Magdangal (Cristine). She has a good relationship with her father Domeng (Lito Pimentel) and stepmother Becca (Nadia Montenegro) despite being scarred by her biological mother (Ynez Veneracion) who left them to start a new family in another country.
Irene discovered that she is pregnant by her boyfriend Jaime (Victor Silayan), causing her father to be disappointed with her.
After some time, Domeng learned to forgive his daughter.
Irene hoped that Jaime would marry her and provide for their children after returning from Australia.
Unfortunately, when Jaime returned, he did not provide for Irene and their child. In fact, he did not attend the christening of their baby boy.
Ireneâ??s friend Debbie (Tart Carlos) then discovered the reason why Jaime did not show up at the christening. It turned out Jaime already has a wife (Antoinette Taus) and a child, and they are set to migrate to Australia.
Brokenhearted, Irene decided to move forward and perform her duties as a single mother. She worked hard and at the same time, gave the best for her son.
Years later, Mycko (Miguel Vergara) grew up to be a very charming young boy, who helped her mother with her work.
A glimpse of Natoy (Zanjoe Marudo) was also seen in the pilot episode, where he was introduced as a hard-working rich guy who has not forgotten yet his first love--Irene.
The episode ended when Natoy (who was riding a car) accidentally saw Irene in the city while riding a jeepney.
Viewers have yet to see how romance will blossom once more for Irene and Natoy, how Natoy will accept Ireneâ??s state as a single mother, and the cause of Natoyâ??s infidelity.
