As Pangako Sa ‘Yo nears its end, Kathryn Bernardo briefly looked back at her almost-nine-month journey as Yna Macaspac.
At her launch as the endorser of Sunsilk, the Kapamilya actress talked about her character’s transition from self-effacing to mature and more confident lady and how, along the way, Yna had taught her a lot of things.
“Every project kasi, may matututunan ka sa character kasi iba-iba naman kung paano mo siya iti-treat,” she began.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and YES! magazine asked her to enumerate the lessons she learned.
1. "Maging independent na tao, self-driven na tao, gano’n si Yna."
Remember when her job application was rejected by several companies because of Madam Claudia?
It was drizzling. She was hungry, but could not even afford isaw (thanks to ice tubig!). She was short of cash, but not hope.
Instead of just giving up, she became optimistic about having a karinderya.
2. "Family-oriented, lahat inuuna, hindi siya.”
Didn't she burst into tears when she missed Tatay Isko's birthday party?
3. “And very strong si Yna, yun yung natutunan ko. And hardworking!”
Kathryn noted Yna's inner strength and the way she rises above a difficult situation for her family.
4. Kathryn to Yna: Be happy.
“Sasabihin ko nga kung tropa ko si Yna..."
5. Let of go your character.
Kathryn admitted she sometimes gets frustrated about Yna’s pagkamatiisin.
And who wouldn't get tired of the tila walang katapusang iyakan?
“Minsan naiinis na rin ako sa kanya, e.”
Sometimes, separating reel from real doesn't become automatic.
“My gosh, may time. As in nasa shoot ako ‘tapos nalulungkot na talaga ako.
“Sabi ni Ate Denise yung nagme-make up, ‘Bakit ka malungkot?’
“Feeling ko ako na si Yna, problemado ako, gano’n.
"May time na gano’n kaya kailangan mo talaga siya i-balance kasi ang hirap minsan kumawala.”
After Pangako Sa ‘Yo, which will air its final episode on February 12, she will work on her movie with Daniel Padilla.
When asked if it’s going to be a romantic comedy?
She replied, “Di ko pa alam. Kasi sinabi lang may movie, baka i-discuss pa lang after Pangako.”
