Last Monday, March 28, Regine Velasquez returned to doing teleseryes via GMA-7’s new primetime series Poor Señorita.
It replaced the Kris Bernal and Nora Aunor-starrer Little Nanay, which aired its final episode last Holy Wednesday, March 23.
The series opened with the introduction of Rita Villon (Regine), an accomplished CEO of a reputable perfume company.
Aside from being an achiever, she is also known to be a perfectionist and very strict that she fires employees immediately when they fail at something.
While riding a helicopter, she learned from her horoscope that it is her unlucky day.
Viewers were introduced to her confidantes: her loyal assistant Maika (Sheena Halili), her aunt Deborah (Snooky Serna) and cousin Piper (Valeen Montenegro), who welcomed her in the office with a party because of an achievement.
Rita achieved a milestone in her career when she was awarded by Turnip as CEO of the Year, which was one of her goals when she followed in the footsteps of her late father (Ricky Davao).
Unfortunately, she cut the party short when she saw the words R.I.P. in a congratulatory message for her.
That night, while preparing her speech as CEO of the Year, she suddenly vomitted in front of everyone, giving rise to speculations that she might be terminally ill.
A single woman, Rita visits online dating sites but she was dismayed to learn that she was chatting with her driver.
One day, while she was driving, she accidentally bumped the kariton of two street children (Zymic Jaranilla and Miggs Cuaderno). Little did she know that these kids will eventually revolutionize her life.
That night, she dreamed about her dead father who told her that they will be together again because Rita will soon follow him.
During her doctor's check-up the next day, Rita learned the bad news from her doctor that she has stage four cancer and has barely three months to live!
Viewers have yet to see Rita’s adventures once she becomes poor and lives with street urchins while she finds love with Paeng, played by Mikael Daez.
