ABS-CBN and GMA-7 top executives' compensations compared

ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio (left) and GMA chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon were among those cited in a report that disclosed the compensation given to top TV network executives.

Which TV network gave the highest salaries and bonuses to its top executives?

This was disclosed by a report published on InterAksyon, the online news portal of TV5.
It will be noticed that the writer Victor Agustin did not reveal the compensation given to TV5 executives.

The said report, which was based on regulatory disclosures, pointed out that ABS-CBN's "bonus surge" is way higher compared to rival network GMA-7.

Those who were recipients of the "bonus surge" were Charo Santos-Concio (ABS-CBN President and CEO) and Olivia Lamasan (ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. vice president for Creative) and three other top Kapamilya Network executives who were not named.

The article indicates that ABS-CBN gave P287.7 million in bonuses to these executives in addition to their combined salaries of P119.6 million.

The top executives of ABS-CBN reportedly experienced a 230% increase in total compensation in 2015 compared to the previous year.

The writer also pointed out that the jump in the increase "coincided with the retirements of Santos-Concio and Lamasan after reaching the company's mandatory age of 60."

On the other hand, the executives of GMA Network were said to receive compensation amounting to P185 million in 2015.

This figure represents the salaries, 13th month pay, and bonuses given to GMA chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon, president Gilberto Duavit Jr., and four other senior officers who were not named.

In 2015, the two TV networks had a wide gap when it comes to the compensation given to top management.

ABS-CBN, which earned a net income of P2.5 billion, alloted P407 million to its five key officials last year.

GMA-7, on the other hand, earned P2.1 billion and dedicated P185 million to six executives.
