Hanggang Makita Kang Muli leading man Derrick Monasterio is proud that his afternoon series with Bea Binene received strong support from viewers, despite its bold concept.
Derrick shared his happiness over the success of his TV project to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last April 21 at the press conference of his self-titled album.
He admitted, “Nakakatuwa kasi noong una pa lang, storycon pa lang, hindi namin alam kung tatanggapin nila.
“Mapu-pull off ba namin to, kasi mahirap itong show, e. Lalo na for Bea.
“Pero noong nag-air na siya, ang saya kasi talagang na-hook din sila, nagtu-tweet din sa akin na parang, ‘Wow, ang ganda, ano na mangyayari, nabitin ako sa ganito.’
“Maingay din po sila sa Twitter ko. So talagang para sa akin, ano siya, naging successful so far.”
The teleserye first aired last March 7 and is currently enjoying strong ratings on the afternoon slot after Wish I May.
Hanggang Makita Kang Muli tells the story of a feral child named Ana (Bea). Her character grows up with the traits of an animal after years of captivity with only a dog as company. Luckily, she found a friend in the form of Calvin, played by Derrick.
What is the biggest challenge he faced while doing this teleserye?
“Siguro yung director. Kasi si Direk Laurice [yun], e.”
He then shared what he learned from the soap's director.
“Well, mahirap kapag hindi mo alam yung script mo.
“So kailangan, magpaka-mature ka in terms of acting, in terms of your work. Dapat binabasa mo lahat.
“Hindi po kasi ako ganon dati, e. Ngayon natutunan ko na siya. Ayun po, mahirap pero masaya.”
When asked what viewers should look forward to on the show, the 20-year-old actor answered, “Yung tinetape namin, ang ganda!
“Sabi namin ni Bea, favorite namin yung tinetape namin ngayon kasi...”
After a short pause, he concluded, “Secret!”
